PREMIERE: Boulderhead - Intra Space (TR044)

"Alien's Discotheque LP" is the second album of Sebastián Mella and his project Fantasna. It comes after "Cuéntame", released in March 2017 on Pirotecnia Label. "Alien's Discotheque" is composed of ten tracks, where electro, ambient, and house combine to create a story in real-time. For Sebastián, this record "represents an imaginary space, white, sometimes empty, other times crowded. A place where an unreal party is happening, a party that will never have a setting. It is a pause in time, a dream composed of disconnected images, memories from previous times, and longing for the future. It is a collection of moods and ideas that represent what we have lived during recent times." 

All tracks were recorded, produced, and mixed by Sebastián Mella, Fantasna, between 2017 and 2021 in Estudios Little Vatican, in Santiago de Chile. (linktr.ee/fantasna).

The release titled ‘Bodega Sound’ will be the second V/A compiled by General Merchant (formerly known as DORIS Records) and will be the labels’ fourth official release (previous releases can be listened to here https://generalmerchant.bandcamp.com/). General Merchant is an Eora based record label, hosting events and releasing music that represents (part of) so-called ‘Australia’s club scene. Compiled entirely of local artists from Eora/Sydney (Gadigal and Wangal Country), Naarm (Melbourne) and Ngunnawal Country (ACT), the release boasts a wide variety of club, progressive, electro, downtempo and breaks, catering to a diverse audience. In this press pack, we have included 3 tracks that we feel give a good taste for the compilation. 

The compilation will be released on Bandcamp alongside 10 cyanotype prints made with native flora (by India Heath). All proceeds from the compilation and print sales will be donated to Firesticks Alliance (firesticks.org.au). 

 'Bodega Sound' and all associated artworks were created, produced and compiled on unceded Aboriginal land. General Merchant acknowledges that it operates on stolen land, belonging to the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation, and we pay our respects to Aboriginal elders past, present and emerging. In efforts to better the spaces we use and challenge the way the 
dance music community functions in respect to indigenous communities, we will be donating to (and raising awareness for) a carefully chosen organisation.  

 Firesticks Alliance is an indigenous-led network that aims to facilitate and reinvigorate cultural burning through indigenous teaching about fire and land management. This is achieved through training and implementation of on-ground fire management. Firesticks also collaborate with the scientific community to monitor and establish a greater understanding of 
the ecological impacts of cultural burning practice. The overall aim is to enhance ecosystem health through a process that enables and empowers Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal communities to collaborate. If you would like to learn more about Firesticks Alliance, their website is linked below.

"i have been messing with dance music for more or less over 10 years. last years in Helsinki. i’m trying to be involved as much as possible in all activities that promote the culture of dance music.  however, i wouldn’t necessarily call myself a DJ.    
dance music has a special place in my heart. It is a curse and a gift.    
i tried to include as many different pieces of dance music as possible in this lesson, which i find interesting or special. some old, some new. that selection may not be genre-consistent or otherwise, and not necessarily the kind of music i would normally play, but as has been said, that was not the purpose of this selection."
