Malaysia - Kita Melangkah

Malaysia, is a constitutional elective monarchy with 34 million inhabitants, consisting of 13 states in Southeast Asia on the Malay Peninsula or West Malaysia with the capital of Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur and East Malaysia on part of the island of Borneo. The South China Sea lies between the two roughly equal parts of the country.

West Malaysia borders Thailand by land and water and has maritime borders with Vietnam, Singapore and Indonesia. In the south, it is separated from the Indonesian island of Sumatra by the Strait of Malacca and connected by a causeway to the city-state of Singapore on the island of the same name. East Malaysia has a land and maritime border with the Sultanate of Brunei to the north and Indonesia to the south, and has maritime borders with Vietnam and the Philippines.

Malaysia was created in 1963 from four former parts of the British Empire: the Federation of Malaya, the Crown Colony of North Borneo, the Crown Colony of Singapore (until 1965) and the Colony of Sarawak. Malaysia has been part of the Commonwealth of Nations since independence from the United Kingdom in 1957. The country's political system is based on the British Westminster system.

The head of state is the king. He bears the title of Yang di-Pertuan Agong and is elected every five years from a series of nine nobles. Parliament has an upper and a lower house based on the British model. From its inception until 2018, the Barisan Nasional majority coalition led both chambers under the leadership of the United Malays National Organization party. In 2018, the opposition alliance Pakatan Harapan replaced the previous government and appointed the Prime Minister for the first time.

Malaysia is a founding member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and is considered an economically emerging country.

Somalia refers to a federal state on the Horn of Africa in the far east of Africa. The claimed territory borders the Indian Ocean to the east, the Gulf of Aden to the north, Djibouti and Ethiopia to the west, and Kenya to the south. More than 17 million people live there. However, a Somalia within these borders has not existed since 1988 due to the Somali Civil War. By 1991, the northwest seceded and has existed largely stably as the independent de facto state of Somaliland since then, in contrast to the rest of the country, where fighting continues to this day and which is considered a failed state.

The country's name is derived from the Somali people, who form the majority of the population. Somalia emerged from the merger of the colonial territories of British and Italian Somaliland, which jointly gained independence in 1960 ("African Year"). With the overthrow of the authoritarian government under Siad Barre in 1991, Somalia completely collapsed. The transitional governments formed from 2000 onwards under the protection of the international community were largely unsuccessful; at times they were barely able to maintain control of the capital. Large parts of the country fell into the hands of local clans, warlords, or radical Islamist groups, and there was also widespread piracy off the coast of Somalia. In 2012, the majority of the many de facto states that had emerged in the meantime formed a new republic with a joint government under a new constitution in 2012, in which they remain largely autonomous as member states. This federal state exists to this day. However, this government still has no power over Somaliland in the northwest, which is seeking international recognition as an independent state from Somalia. Furthermore, large parts of Somalia, especially in the south, are controlled by the Islamist al-Shabaab (as of February 2024).

Somalia is one of the poorest countries in the world[5][6] and the country with the worst hunger.[7] In February 2023, according to the UN Children's Fund UNICEF, over 6 million people in Somalia were affected by hunger.

Turkmenistan is a state in Central Asia. Turkmenistan lies on the Caspian Sea and borders Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Iran. At 488,100 km², the landlocked country is about the same size as Spain, its landscape is primarily characterized by the Karakum Desert and it has the fourth largest natural gas reserves in the world.

According to the census at the end of 2022, the sparsely populated state had 7,057,841 inhabitants, the majority of whom were Muslim Turkmen. The capital and largest city in the country with around one million inhabitants is Ashgabat. Other important cities are Türkmenabat, Daşoguz and Mary.

In 1991 the country declared its independence from the Soviet Union. In the following years, the first President Saparmurat Niyazov, who had previously ruled the then Soviet Republic since 1985, established a totalitarian system that still exists today. Turkmenistan is therefore considered one of the most restrictive, internationally recognized states today. The human rights situation is extremely critical, for example freedom of expression is severely restricted. In various democracy scales, the state has consistently occupied one of the last places since the beginning of the measurements until today.

The economy relies heavily on natural gas, which accounts for a majority of gross domestic product and exports. Despite the resources, the domestic economy remains constrained by government control and limited foreign investment. Socially, Turkmenistan has made progress in living conditions but faces challenges such as human rights violations and unequal distribution of economic benefits. Internationally, it pursues a policy of neutrality and maintains close economic relations with China.

I see, feel, hear the rain and thunder, over our world, and it makes me wonder about a few things......

Where did... common sense go?
Where did... the knowledge and realization that we have nowhere to go go? 

Where did... the courage and will to stop the gates of hell from constantly standing ajar go?
Where did... your own will go?

Some of these natural lessons extend into the moral structure of humanity as it must evaluate from time to time if novel ideas work or if the ancient wisdom is better...and so it rains.

"Baalbek"

""Don't Be Denied" is a key song in Neil Young history. It's from the live stage album Time Fades Away taken from tours done to support Young's outstanding smash hit Harvest, and at the same time done during one of Young's darkest times, right after longtime collaborator Danny Whitten had died of an overdose of alcohol and Valium. Young was hitting the bottle pretty hard here and singing in a falsetto voice, the combination of which would cause him to develop a throat infection. Young, with his heart always on his sleeve, sang what he felt.
As stated in Neil Young: Long May You Run: The Illustrated History, "'Don't Be Denied' is an unguardedly autobiographical tune that traces Young's life from his parent's [1961] divorce to his current dichotomous status as poor in soul but rich in commercial success."
The time of Young's parents' divorce was turbulent, as the separation was anything but amicable. However at the time, 16-year-old Neil was raising chickens and selling the eggs, with plans to go to Ontario Agricultural College and be a farmer. Only his leisure activities foretold his future, when he would hide from his family problems in his room with his transistor radio playing local station CHUM. From this, Young learned admiration for Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, and of course Elvis. In 1958, his father bought Neil his first music instrument, a plastic ukulele. His father would later recall, "He would close the door of his room... and we would hear plunk, pause while he moved his fingers to the next chord, plunk, pause while he moved again, plunk."
