Audio excerpt from my multi-channel sound installation 'Mouthpiece' (2022)

Listeners, please be aware that this is a binaural rendering from MaxMSP of a spatialised composition with 5 static sound sources and 3 virtual moving sound objects. In the installation, this audio was reproduced via 5 talk-boxes connected to 3D printed models of a human vocal tract forming the anatomical shape required to produce five vocal vowel sounds. The timbral colouring produced by the talk-boxes, the models and the gallery space itself is not captured here. This recording is prefered over a room recording due to noise pollution in the space.

Inspired by and recorded at the Schwerbelastungskörper in Berlin, a solid cylindrical concrete building build as a 'test object' by the Nazis to determine the stability of the area's sandy ground. If suitable, this spot was to be the location of an enormous triumphal arch, three times the size of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. As it was never destroyed, the Schwerbelastungskörper ontinues to endure time, as an unseemly and indelible reminder of the city's ugly past. Like a landmark at a historical crossroads, it stands between was is, was, and could have been.

Sounds from Lottie Sebes' Sonic Ice Sculpture, 2018.
Field recordings created on the frozen marshy landscape in Stole, Germany are amplified through a body of ice as it melts. The sculpture is presented months later back at the location where the recordings were made, linking the spring countryside back to its previous states of being. The sounds of the ice are slowed to mirror the landscape's long natural history, including cycles of frost and thaw which have continued and evolved over millennia.
