This take wasn't chosen due to some of the dodgy unsure vocals tracked by Louis. However, we all considered this the best instrumental take by far!

Atman - (Home Demo)

After a chance encounter through seperate bands in a rehearsal space, Ky Taundry, Matt Reece-Jones and Tom Hedges met. 

After their subsequent bands disbanded and having kept in contact, Matt and Ky decided to start jamming and writing songs together. 

"Roll Against the Tide" was the first product of the newly formed songwriting partnership. After many weeks of successful writing and rehearsing sessions, they soon realised they were on to something.

They convinced Tom to learn the bass guitar (having previously been a drummer), his fast learning ability and natural groove helped lead the band to it's next stage.

Then came time to recruit the final piece of the puzzle, a drummer. After signing up to multiple "find band member" pages, and asking around the scene, they came into contact with Callum Sahan.

A rehearsal was arranged and the connection was gelled almost from the get go. Callum provided the final touch that would send the band to it's next stage.

A few more months of dedicated rehearsing ensued and the band were finally ready to start playing live. 

After getting a few gigs under their belt, they arranged some studio time with close friend and sound engineer Wiliam Jones. 

On the 12th of May 2023, the band set off to Surrey with a van full of musical instruments and sleeping arrangements. After an uncomfortable night in the van, the band got into the studio early the next day and began work.

4 original tracks were recorded entirely live, with no overdubbing.
These songs will soon appear on the band's debut EP, entitled "The Live Sessions".

We felt since this was the first song written out of the bunch, it was only right it should be the lead single! These songs are so important to us and so much hard work and dedication has finally led us to this point.

On the weekend of 12/05/23 we set out in our gig van from Birmingham to Surrey, spirits high and focused. After spending the night in the van, we woke up early and headed into the studio to start work. After a few test passes of the opening track, the momentum in the studio had built and we were soon on form. 

We decided we wanted to make the most of the studio time given to us by Wil (The Wizard), to capture the band playing live as opposed to just focusing on a single. We felt it necassary in the early stages of our career, to showcase the fact that we are capable of playing live and creating a big soundscape without any tampering or post production.

My DJ set at Ozora Festival 2023 Pumpui Stage, Sunday evening, the closing night of the festival. I started right when the main stage was closing and played before Modus who played before SFX aka Astral Projection. Went really well and i got very good feedback, in the beginning there was a crowd of a few hundred people dancing which grew and grew until the end to a few thousands. The atmosphere was absolutely electric and i received a lot of appreciation from many people, i still feel the vibe and the emotions in my body and still processing what happened there that day. Was a memorable one! The mix starts with a dark-ish more classical zenonesque sound, but then goes deeper and deeper and deeper, gradually introducing melodies, trance inducing atmospheres, tribal elements, psychedelic twists, intelligent percussions, acid sounds, modern grooves, irresistible rhythms, slowly changing the style until the end. It's psytrance that doesn't sound like the usual psytrance, sounds techno-ish but it's not techno, seems progressive but it's not quite progressive, and even has some goa influences.
