Here's my latest Louis Osbourne Mixtape featuring lots of underground goodies from deep to techno with lots in between. As I've been focussing on my O&A project for too long, this is the first LO mix I have done in almost 2 years! So enjoy it LOUD!!! ;)

Louis Osbourne - February 2015 Mixtape

Next up on Mija Recordings label owner Louis Osbourne steps up with Bullet Dodge’s Gareth Whitehead to deliver “Soul Control.” Germany’s Dirt Crew and Spain’s Pig &amp; Dan step in on remix duties to give this release some clout.

Louis Osbourne has been running Mija Recordings for three years yet this is his first release on the label under his own name. Louis has done a couple of remixes on the label under his Osbourne &amp; Anderson guise with Jamie Anderson, who have their next Osbourne &amp; Anderson release signed to Made To Play. This follows a release on Front Room and a remix of Tube &amp; Berger on Neurotraxx Deluxe, so Louis is getting used to dropping trax on some dope labels! Gareth has been running his label Bullet Dodge for four years and has produced with the likes of Werner Neidermeir, Jo Mills, Dave Beer, Robert Owens and Random Factor, so he is a man who is in demand in 2011!

The original mix of Soul Control is a deep house track driven by some soulful vocal licks, old school organ stabs and some cool cowbell drops. It’s got a nod to an old school house sound but with fresh production values. The lads have been dropping this for sometime in their sets and it just works….. so try it out!

First up on remix duties we have Dirt Crew who give us a driving deep house interpretation that has enough oomph for bigger floors, yet keeps their signature trademark deep house sound. Then Pig &amp; Dan step up and deliver a remix that will keep the BIG ROOMS happy, which is what they do best. They keep the soulful vocal snippets, yet build a big track around a thundering rhythm section. This should be heard on a big system!

2. Louis Osbourne &amp; Gareth Whitehead - Soul Control (Dirt Crew Remix) - MIJA016

Jamie Anderson is a man who needs little introduction in underground electronic music circles, or to followers of Mija Recordings, so it’s a pleasure to welcome him back to the label after his Cyclone feat. K-Alexi releases in 2010. This next Mija release is a collaborative work with Mija label boss Louis Osbourne. Jamie and Louis have been working on their O&A (Osbourne & Anderson) project at some pace this past year clocking up releases on Play It Down, Made to Play and Arthouse. However their O&A project is a distinctly jackin house sound, so when the guys finished these tracks they decided that it would be best to release them under their original names as the sound it distinctly more tech-house / techno.

“Electric Voodoo” is a Detroit influenced tech house masterpiece with heady driving stings, and rumbling sub-bass line. The track hits another level just past the half way point when a UR type key riff takes you off into the realms of Galaxy 2 Galaxy or DJ Rolando. Road tested by the guys since the summer this track has been a hit with other DJ’s asking for copies of the track!

The following two mixes on the release are done by the guys individually, Jamie delivers his “Drums Mix” which harks back to his classic Artform sound. Retaining the strings and some sythns from the original Jamie ups the intensity with a classic TR 909 rhythm section and driving bass line. Finally Louis gives us his “No Keys Edit” which strips back the original mix to it’s raw elements for a heads down mixing tool, simple but deadly effective.

This should create some Electric Voodoo on your dance floors over the forthcoming festive period, and it’s another fine Mija release, so please support in all the right places.

Louis Osbourne - Deeper Podcast (May 2013)

In a career spanning twenty years on the underground music scene, Louis Osbourne’s relentless ability to attract success as a DJ, producer, label owner and broadcaster has well and truly sealed his name an industry stalwart, but don’t let us simply persuade you with clichés - just listen to the facts.

A prestigious residency at Café Mambo in Ibiza from 98-99 added his name to the illustrious yet small list of jocks to hold down the fort at the legendary San Antonio sunset bar – including the likes of Steve Lawler and Pete Gooding. Add into the mix residencies at Ibiza super-club Amnesia, Birmingham techno mecca House of God and U60311 in Frankfurt, you begin to get an idea of the appeal many hold for Osbourne. As a DJ, his appearances alone read like a ‘who’s who’ of the best venues around the world – Watergate (GER), D-Edge (BR), Pacha (IBZ), Creamfields (UK), Global Gathering (UK) and throw in the Berlin Love Parade (GER) the list goes on and on.

It’s pretty hard not to indulge in lists when it comes to Louis Osbourne, there simply isn’t enough space to write up each achievement. Take the list of familiar and legendary names he’s lined up alongside; Loco Dice, Josh Wink, DJ Sneak, Derrick Carter, Dave Clarke, Damian Lazarus, Erick Morilo and the Basement Jaxx. That’s without mentioning the likes of Tiga, Erol Alkan, 2ManyDJs, Simian Mobile Disco, Ivan Smagghe and Derrick May. Believe or not, that isn’t the full list, which is testament to Osbourne’s ability behind the turntables and the demand he continues to find himself in, even after twenty years hard graft.

As if that wasn’t enough to fill his ever-expanding diary, in 2008 Osbourne started his own imprint called Mija Recordings. Attracting a mixture of well-established artists and fresh new talent, the label has fast become an underground powerhouse. Stacey Pullen, Jamie Anderson, Alan Fitzpatrick and Fish Go Deep have all put out records on Mija with many more also opting to work with Osbourne at Mija. 

Production-wise, he’s no slouch either. Working closely with co-hort Jamie Anderson, as “Osbourne & Anderson” or “O&A”, Louis has released on world-class labels such as Play It Down, Made to Play, Magnetic, Front Room and Jackmode as well as productions under his own name on Neurotraxx Deluxe, Artform and his own Mija Recordings. In 2014 Louis has already remixed Jesse Rose and Kerri Chandler tracks.

In 2013 O&A set up their new label ‘All Night Records’. The label is being run with the distinct feel of an underground 90s Chicago house label, putting out tracky club bombs with no fuss or extra hassle. It will be used as vehicle for O&A to hustle their own tracks as soon as they are ready to go. Each release will be hot off the presser, returning to a more old school vibe of promotion that allows the music to speak immediately and completely for itself.

Capping it all off in 2014 the guys are launching their new monthly radio show titled ‘O&A All Night’, where O&A take you on a journey through their brand of electronic music giving the guys the opportunity to showcase their sound.

What is certain about Louis Osbourne is that the Law Graduate has not only carved out a wealth of global experience behind the decks, in front of the mixing desk, and in the music business, but his biography well and truly speaks for itself. Osbourne isn’t a man who needs to talk up his achievements; he doesn’t need too, there’s a list of facts to prove it… suppose he’s a bit like his infamous Father, Ozzy, in that respect.
