JazzyFunk - Give Me The Funk (James Rod Remix)

Having been one of his biggest festival tunes in the summer of 2014, the Luxxury mix of Greg Wilson’s 'Summer Came My Way' - which originally surfaced on last year’s 'Schooled In The Classics' 12” - was put on the back burner throughout the winter in readiness for a full 2015 release. 

Given the fact it's become a firm seasonal favourite for Greg, we've decided to upload an ambient mix Luxxury put together back in 2015, which hasn't previously been heard before.

Sometimes composition is a long and arduous process, other times a song arrives fully formed. The latter was the case for Greg when he imagined 'Summer Came My Way' as a vehicle for hitherto unknown vocal forces of nature, The Reynolds - twins Katherine and the song’s lead singer Carmel - who, by beautiful serendipity happened to live within a mile of Greg’s Merseyside home.

Bursting out of LA with a lavish twelve-part re-edit series in 2014, Luxxury’s brand of hazy, slo-mo reworks - a West Coast Balaeric fusion - has catapulted him onto the world stage. Opening his mammoth eight- hour Berghain set in 2013 with Luxxury’s 'Hotel California' rework, Greg helped bring his Los Angeles vibes to wider attention, bolstered by his subsequent support of other reworks; 'Night Fever' and 'Riders On The Storm'.

A victim of his own success, 'Hotel California' gained Luxxury a little too much notoriety and, after a Wall Street Journal interview began circulating, Warner came down on him like a ton of bricks on finding out he’d used The Eagles’ multitracks. All was resolved however and his career has grown from strength to strength since then. The Luxxury approach perfectly fitted Greg’s vision of the song and the result is a glorious nine-minute epic, just in time for the summer. 

Two years on, this ambient mix captures the mood in dying days of summer, placing The Reynolds in a more mellow and ever so slightly melancholic context.

DoctorSoul is one of the hottest Parisian Disco & Soul producers, who releases his music a.o. on Yam Who?’s überhip Disco Label MIDNIGHT RIOT RECORDS from London. His releases often reach the Disco DownLoad Charts, he just reached No 1 in the Traxsource charts with “Secret Friend”. He has his own unique production style, which is always on the dubby side if things, but still very poppy and true to the original. A difficult balance, that he masters like not many others.  One of the reasons for this special sound might be the fact that he was born and raised in West Africa. In a city, whose club and music culture breathes the spirit of the disco era more than any other in Europe, producers and label owners more than elsewhere feel obliged to guide the great legacy into a glorious present and future, supplying a unique level of quality and innovative spirit. A work ethic that’s affectionately being taken care of both in the overall vision and the small details. 

Equipped with years of music business experience and united by an equally long friendship the Munich based duo of Alex Mallios and Nick Bader made their dream come true in 2012 by founding the connoisseur indie label Love Harder. Their common goal: to release a few but stylishly selected tracks and thereby enrich the genre they always have been fans of themselves: house music. In all its facets. And all its possibilities.

The start for Love Harder couldn’t have been better: releases by signings such us Achilles & One, Guardate, Alex Mallios and Leo Kane not only garnered euphoric reviews, they regularly found their way into the upper regions of various genre charts.

But despite the great (media) feedback, the commercial success and inevitable label expansion the Love Harder-makers never lose sight of their original vision: to share the music they love with as many like-minded people as possible. Und to pass on the inspiration they repeatedly drew from the sounds in the clubs of their hometown of Munich.
