Frögel is a part of Hand aufs Herz Kollektiv from Frankfurt / Germany.
He is born and raised in Frankfurt, beeing always surrounded by a lot of music because of his dad collecting reccords.."My parents still tell me stories of me dancing in front of the speakers while Manu Chao bongo bong is played."

With his moto Cross - Genre - Maseltov, Frögel mixes a variety of influences into one soulful musical journey.

Given the honour of opening one of NZ's best kept little festivals, I wanted to pour my heart in to the 2 hours gifted to me. 
Combining some of my favourite tracks with a smattering of my own unreleased music this was a personal journey.

We´re starting the year 2016 with a very special Release. Love Harder welcomes one of Ibiza icons Oliver Schmitz.
He´s a well known dj and producer based in Barcelona, Spain and a official dj at the AMNESIA club in Ibiza.
Since 1999 he produced tracks for some of the most influential house and tech house labels.
His new single "Gravity" feat. Micah Sherman is a very strong Vocal House anthem with a heavy UK driven baseline ready for playing in all the clubs around the world.
We fell in love with the impressive voice of Deniz Reno from the beginning. Having made her debut on world renowned electronic labels like Armada Music and Black Hole Recordings, Deniz Reno's work have been supported worldwide by the likes of Paul Oakenfold, Marcus Schossow and Myon & Shane 54.
Remixes come from our boys Achilles & One who made a very discoid & groovy interpretation with their own signature sound. 
Last but not least our friend Rob Slac from Chillin Music USA contributes a very deep and atmospheric remix.

His massive anthem Found A Place, released by the Berghain based label Ostgut Ton was voted as one of the top classic house tracks of the decade.

After his release „Won’t let go“ remixed by the legendary Tony Lionni, Achilles & One is back for launching some disco rockets with his new single called „Alive“. 
80ies synths, funky guitar licks, talking vocals and a unique sample based saxophone hook will kick ass on the dance-floors while keeping the disco spirit alive. 
Our friend Pete Herbert gives a proper balearic twist to the original. His signature discoid synth lines and funky brass adds will keep everybody united under the ball.

The mysterious pair seemingly from another planet (or at least the north German coast) drop a three track bomb on Poker Flat Recordings.

Kotelett & Zadak (@kotelettzadak) bring a much needed sense of fun to the floor with their tracks, and this release is perhaps their best yet.

Title track 'Clovis' is full of energy, and the boys utilize a lot of effects to add some spice to their already sizzling groove. It’s full of drama and and suspense, with unexpected melodic elements that verge on the cosmic - perfect for that open air moment.

'Syntax' is a spacey groover also, a thick drum track provides the direction, while inventive samples, stabs and hits provide the fun along the way before a cheeky vocoder voice arrives in the breakdown.

'I LFO You' is a a tech house heater - the track has space galore and a perfectly placed synth squiggle to provide the hook.

Sunset Grooves began 6 years ago and back then the idea of having 10 mixes was already an achievement.... we are now at Number 150 and the talent that has passed through this podcast is unbelievable with so many artists who were not necessarily known when they made their mix for Sunset, but are know headlining events is so dope to see! https://soundcloud.com/funky-chap is proud and inspired! 

For this special 150th edition it is an absolute pleasure to have done a b2b with the wonderful https://soundcloud.com/atroposvibes . To put you in context, we literally began this mix while the sun was setting and finished well into the dark! A musical journey of all sorts of sub genres and references starting off at 92bpm and finishing at 119bpm. It wasn't easy finding our bearings at the beginning but we then found the flow, the mojo, THAT vibe and just kept on giving! The mix is by no means perfect, but the imperfections is what makes this set a sunset grooves musical experience and a real b2b! Not afraid to try out tracks we had never played or even thought about putting together. Hopefully we can show you the "making of" video as we laughed and danced like mad men who love music!

Hey Hey, thanks for the interesting questions I will try to respond as honest as I can 😊 

➢To start you off tell us what song puts you both in a good mood when you wake up in the morning? 

There are too many, let’s say: Frivolous – You Gotta Sing (for years this song makes me smile all the time) 

➢You are known to have down some exceptional edits of classic tunes. Tell us briefly some of your music inspirations and the process of adding your Waxwood sauce to take certain tracks to another level? 

When we talk about music, it is always intuitive. You listen and it goes directly to your heart, avoiding your head – where all this analysis and stuff happens, and you know immediately  that’s the song! Then you just begin to play around and see what happens..  

➢2020 has been a difficult year for the music scene, how has it changed within your hometown and what do you think will be different in 2021? 

For me like for many people 2020 was the year to go deeper to find who you truly are. At some point let go of the illusions of how this reality works and to find meaningful things around you. It wasn’t a lot of gigging but it was a lot of digging if you know what I mean! 

➢Lastly, regarding this mix you have done for us, can you tell us a little bit of your thought process behind choosing the tracks you chose? 

I tried to feel and see this weird time as one picture with all the ups and downs as life is and to tell this story…

In a city, whose club and music culture breathes the spirit of the disco era more than any other in Europe, producers and label owners more than elsewhere feel obliged to guide the great legacy into a glorious present and future, supplying a unique level of quality and innovative spirit. A work ethic that’s affectionately being taken care of both in the overall vision and the small details. 

Equipped with years of music business experience and united by an equally long friendship the Munich based duo of Alex Mallios and Nick Bader made their dream come true in 2012 by founding the connoisseur indie label Love Harder. Their common goal: to release a few but stylishly selected tracks and thereby enrich the genre they always have been fans of themselves: house music. In all its facets. And all its possibilities.

The start for Love Harder couldn’t have been better: releases by signings such us Achilles & One, Guardate, Alex Mallios and Leo Kane not only garnered euphoric reviews, they regularly found their way into the upper regions of various genre charts.

But despite the great (media) feedback, the commercial success and inevitable label expansion the Love Harder-makers never lose sight of their original vision: to share the music they love with as many like-minded people as possible.
