The devastating situation in G@z@ has stunned the world, leaving us deeply disturbed and shattered. My wife who is Palestinian shared "Freedom Code" by Rotana & Superposition, describing it as a Palestinian Freedom song.
This folkloric resistance song was crafted in a language designed to defy British and Israeli colonizers, serving as a means to convey news of resistance and messages between prisoners and their families through techniques like letter reversal or altering word endings. I felt compelled to create my own rendition as a tribute to the beauty, talent, innocence, bravery, hope, resilience and dreams embodied by the people of Gaza. All proceeds from my cover of this song will be donated to a relief fund. I will also be matching the donations.

FREEDOM CODE

Love and Revenge's latest single, "Faqir," dives into Lebanon's cultural vaults, extracting exclusive unreleased recordings and vintage footage from the 1960s. With roots in Studio Baalbeck, a powerhouse in Arab film and music, the track resurrects a forgotten era.

Amid Lebanon's civil war chaos, preservation efforts salvaged these gems, digitizing 400 songs and countless films. Sung by Noha Hachem, "Faqir" is a song from the 70s that has never been released before. Love and Revenge harness this legacy, infusing it with contemporary electro vibes.

Directed by Radio Karantina – Nasri Sayegh, the music video layers in archival clips from "Actualités Libanaises," offering a gritty yet nostalgic glimpse into the country's past.

"Faqir" is a sonic time capsule, blending history with modern beats—a testament to Love and Revenge's knack for resurrecting forgotten sounds with a fresh twist.

Studio Baalbeck
When civil war erupted in Lebanon in 1975, Studio Baalbeck, a prominent music and film production company established in 1963, was forced to close its doors. As the war ended, the studio faced imminent destruction, prompting dedicated enthusiasts to salvage what they could from its archives. Studio Baalbeck had been the most important film studio in the Arab world, making the preservation efforts critical. Among the passionate rescuers, the IRAB association managed to save numerous priceless songs, while the UMAM association recovered valuable video films. Their combined efforts led to the restoration and digitization of these archives, ensuring the preservation of a precious cultural heritage.
