A dandelion amongst roses,

wishing was my utmost modus operandi

Hope put into the seeds I tried to see through

but my unavailing efforts became wanderers in the sky

Always asking 'why?'

Why is it that my outer appearance

can never amount to the appeal that is hers?

Why is it that I can give so much to so many,

but receive so little in return?

Why is it that he'll give her his undivided attention 

because of the curves that show through her skin-tight skirt,

but when I fell from love's incredibly powerful shove,

my only gain was unconquerable hurt?

Seemingly unconquerable

How could I overcome?

It seemed as if all my life, I'd been in a battle

with who they thought I was and who I wanted to be

and the potential me never won

I felt like nothing

There was a void

As massive as a black hole it would take and take and take

everything that appeared as an opportunity to fill it

This hole that took on my soul and morphed into the demon of depression

It never occurred to me that there was only one thing that could kill it

Only one thing that could heal it

And that was love

Something came to me

Not the love that I longed for from the people I wanted to befriend

Not the love that I had lost when he brought our union to an end

Not the love that you could ever find in us earthly, sinful men

But the love of the Father---the kind that never pretends

The kind that always wins

The kind that always prevails

A love that will never fail

I found it

What a treasure I had found

With this love, I know no defeat

With this love, I know no deceit

With this love, there are no more pointless deeds

With this love, there are no more hopeless seeds

I don't have to be a rose

I don't have to be perfect

I am loved for me

And though I don't deserve it

I was given something

There was new life
