This was recorded on a demo back in 2009. It was based on a song we used to sing at Scout camp. 

Who would have thought the song would become so popular? I guess we missed the boat on this one... or maybe we started the trend and didn't even know it!

We used to get the whole crowd to make the motions at the show... have people come on stage. What a blast!!!

Love Dog is a continuing story of one man’s struggle to share a vision with the world: it’s often been more of a music collective than a band. Anchored by frontman and singer/songwriter Jason Witt, the music has been an ongoing adventure since 2003. The founding members are Jason Witt and Dain Silva. The name Love Dog came from Dain’s appreciation for the band Mother Love Bone and Jason’s 90’s rock influence.

The duo burst onto the Colorado Springs, Colorado music seen by frequenting open mic nights. Some of their favorite haunts were the Ancient Mariner and Benny’s. With a mission to spread their music, they played just about anywhere they could. They once played in the lobby of King Supers grocery store for Halloween. Some of their frequent stops were Louie’s Pizza, The Tripple Nickel, and Kin Folks. During these adventures, they sometimes picked up stray musicians to play in the band. Since they were always very crowd-friendly, random musicians occasionally joined them at shows.

The first EP, Changing for the Best, was released in 2004 and consisted of Jason sitting down with Vanessa White at her home studio and an old Tascam Portastudio 414 MKII 4-Track Cassette Recorder.

The first studio effort, Letters to Myself, was recorded at a local studio in Colorado Springs in 2006. They believe it was called E Double G Studios. Although the studio typically worked with rap and R&B, they were excited to branch out. The album started as another acoustic album, and a later addition by Dain evolved the session into a full band effort. The title track, Letters to Myself, was the first song that Jason and Dain wrote together.

After much success in the local area, around 2008, Dain left the duo to pursue other musical projects. The two have always remained close friends. From late 2008 to early 2009, Jason continued to play open mic’s and eventually teamed up with a young airman named Dan Wise.

Dan and Jason’s first studio effort was a single called Pleasure and Pain, recorded with sound engineer Greg Connava, at his local studio in March 2009. 

Working with the amazing Christina Corbitt, aka Sunshine, at Sunshine Studios in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Jason and Wise completed a new Love Dog album, Do You Wanna Go, in 2009. From there, they met up with bass player Eric Headle. Although the drummer position remained a hot seat, Love Dog was becoming a legitimate full-fledged band for the first time.

The band quickly picked up steam in the local area and released a new EP named La Mala Muchacha in early 2010 to help spread the word. This EP was Love Dogs’ first full band studio effort, recorded in their practice space with the help of sound engineer J-Rugg. By this point, Love Dogs’ reputation was spreading around the region. Soon after the release of La Mala Muchacha, they were thrown another monkey wrench. Dan Wise, serving in the Air Force, was called away for a tour of duty in Afghanistan.

Love Dog continued doing shows while they waited for Dan to come home. Once he returned, the band attempted to update their image by changing the band name to Jackwagon. They continued to do shows for a few more months, but unfortunately, personal life matters impacted several members, and eventually, everyone parted ways.

Jason still writes and records music under the Love Dog banner but has been working as a solo artist ever since. Love Dog has been on hiatus since 2010, while Jason decided to focus on spending time with the family.
