The Kovert project began in 1994 as a pirate radio show on Chillin' FM. Broadcast weekly from the heights of East London, the show offered a varied diet of dark electronics. 

Having djed for 4years prior to Chillin', and influenced by the harder detroit sounds (UR, Hardwax, Cybersonik), the early chicago house sound (Farley Jackmaster Funk, Sleazy D, Adonis etc), dark european hardcore (PCP, Praxis), the UK rave/early jungle scene and the broken electronics of the Italians (SNS, Leo Anibaldi, ASU), it was only a matter of time before some ideas were recorded. 

Experiments followed. 

In 2000, No Surrender was released as part of the Praxis USA comp. It was a response to the dark UK techstep and the emerging, faster european breaks around at the time. 

This was followed by the Shock Effect, released as Praxis 34. Conceived as anti-muzak, it asked: could distraction from the banal lead to increased participation in the everyday? 

By 2002 breakcore was considered a genre and many new artists were on the scene. However, there was a lack of playable heavy tracks around. Versioning attempted to redress the balance. This time more influenced by dancehall, dub and jungle; mixing a soundsystem aesthetic with heavy beats and even heavier basslines. Murderous style was subsequently remixed by the don and released as part of the Speedhall ep on Berlin's Koolpop records. 

Kovert released labels such as Sub/Version, SMB sublabel Vinyl Weaponry, Sonic Belligeranza, Peace Off.

Drumfunk/braindance don dgoHn (John Cunnane) returns on Love Love for a collaborative 4 track EP ‘Talk To The Planets’ with jazzy experimentalist Danish friend Badun (Oliver Duckert). What results here is a bubbling platter of otherworldly sound design full of warmth (and the slickest drum-work going!) that fully imbibes both artists’ individual songwriting sensibilities, striking a curious balance between organic improvisation and meticulously detailed programming. 

Sonically the EP could be described as hi-resolution psychedelic drum n bass as much as it could alien future-jazz, detailed and rich with mad grooves just beneath the surface. Structurally the tracks are unpredictable but not jarring, with a free-flowing quality to them and a pace that feels like meandering at lightspeed. Way too immersive for casual listening, this is music for getting lost in the stars. Like using arcane beat science at a ruffneck hippy drum circle to astral project through space.

Rognvald, aka Richard Wilson, returns at full throttle with part 2 of 'The New Selecta'. Rognvald’s unique future-old skool sound continues to evolve in this release, the third 12" in his WIFE series. You will travel into unknown subterranean territory with ‘The New Selecta’, exploring the limits of break choppage and granular sound design on a loved and familiar soundscape, as well as 2 dread filled cuts of swampy ambient reductions. 

Using a minimal sound palette to maximal effect, Rognvald deconstructs and abstracts the tropes of old skool jungle. Blending blunted breaks with burrowing subatomic sinewaves, euphoric rave vocals lead to a nuclear ruffneck ecstacy. 

The future of jungle is yet to come....

Opener 'sAD B0i MASSiVe' blends distorted, gabber-flecked drums with crunchy snares, while a hazy, Daft Punk-esque synthline conjures a dreamy vibe. This signature Minion move conveys his knack for serving up harsh yet romantic atmospheres, pairing two opposite moods that melt into one another like acetone and water.

New music from dgoHn (John Cunnane) is always exciting, this LP especially so. After a recent release on Astrophonica, a self released collection of tracks in 2018 and 3 singles on Love Love since the inception of their partnership in 2016, John comes back to Love Love with the big album. Conceived in the Essex heartland, 'Undesignated Proximate' contains 12 all-killer mega fresh cuts of the kind of boundlessly creative material that we have come to know him for, marking the most comprehensive collection yet of dgoHn’s music.

10 years on from the classic album ’Some Shit Saaink’ made with friend Bob (Macc) on Subtle Audio/Rephlex, John’s music has garnered many notable fans including Aphex Twin, Skee Mask, DJ Food, Thom Yorke, Ben UFO, Lee Gamble and Tom Ravenscroft finding a firm place in the hearts of many. 'Undesignated Proximate' is a timeless collection of music that sets a high bar for what can be achieved with a computer and some nifty ideas.
