A Message for World Water Day

#LOVEmoney = Converting what we LOVE, into helpful money.

Water. It’s life most basic need. But there is a water crisis in our world right now. Seriously, a CRISIS. Nearly 1 billion people live without clean drinking water. It’s happening all over the world. Especially in developing areas such as Sub Saharan Africa, South-East Asia and Latin America. What most people don’t realise is: water changes everything. Education; Health; Poverty and especially Women and Children.

Most families caught in the water crisis rely on less than $1 a day. When they’re thirsty, there’s no tap for them to drink from. There’s no instant water supply. Instead, the women and children go off to collect water – the journey can sometimes take roughly 3 hours a day! And, the water they’re collecting is usually from a swamp, pond or river. This is dirty water that can spread some of the worlds worst illnesses (such as diarrhea, dehydration and sometimes lead to death).

Most women caught in the water crisis spend more time getting water than cooking, cleaning or looking after their families. Also, time spent collecting water is time that these people cannot spend learning to read, write, going to school or earning an income.

But, what choice do they have?

Roughly every 19 seconds a mother loses one of her children to a water-related illness. And, every day, almost 1 billion people are living this way. Until… they get a little help.

In 2013, #LOVEmoney will be supporting “charity : water”. Charity : water is a non-profit organisation bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations.

We believe that 2013 is the right year for #LOVEmoney to be supporting charity : water as we are now in a time whereby the world is developing faster than ever before – and it is vitally important that we help to make sure that these countries don’t get left behind and we invest some of the modern technology we use for the other W!ZARD Radio products to help this cause.

We will be running 3 different projects within 2013 in order to raise $5,000.
