PARAMIDA’s Love On The Rocks imprint kicks off 2025 with Mineral House: a brand new EP courtesy of Retromigration & Niklas Wandt.

The duo, collaborating here for the first time, have created five cuts of irresistible house music – a tapestry of analogue synths, drum machines, effects and computer wizardry. Shimmering high-end frequencies and ‘90s-inspired grooves with effervescent, liquid touches; life-affirming kicks, uplifting pads, amen breaks and vocal samples: it’s all here and quite unlike anything you’ve heard from them before.

“We met in Amsterdam through a mutual friend and struck up an immediate connection, as jazz, funk and electronic music practitioners with similarly diverse interests and tastes,” explains Niklas. “On another visit a few months later, I showed Malik some demos I had recorded in Berlin that I liked but felt stuck with. Within a matter of a few minutes, he flipped them into a pumping and extremely funky beast that became our first track together. This spawned an on and off process over the next couple months of ping-ponging ideas and elements back and forth.”

The result: an exquisite vision of ultra-fresh, glistening future house from a bright sonic planet, replete with layers of intricate programming that bubble up like rarified elements around the listener, conjuring memories of ancient shapes and forms, joyfully untethered to the past, where magical fauna soar in the skies, and dance in celebration in the crystalline waters below. 

The sound of the elements crashing against each other to create new forms, heavenly and rare, pure and exciting: Mineral House.

Taking over Tapes #151 is Gearmaster, formerly known as Abdul Raeva, a collaboration between Steffan Todorović and Joonas Arro. The pair have created some of the most consistent, no-nonsense club bangers in recent years. 

They first crossed paths in early 2018, shortly after which they formed Abdul Raeva— a project that would become pivotal in shaping a new wave of acid and progressive house. This year marks the beginning of a fresh chapter for the pair, as they announced Gearmaster would be their primary focus moving forward. Serving to create a more refined and versatile sound, the duo promise the same energetic style that they have become known for. Whether it’s shape-shifting psychedelia, spongy basslines or punchy grooves, fun is always the core element of their sound.

Futureboogie spring straight into action in the New Year with a killer single from the much loved German producer, Lauer.  As one half of Tuff City Kids (with Gerd Janson), as well as flying solo with two albums on Permanent Vacation, Phillip Lauer has been producing since the turn of the millennium.  A cohesive and highly active output of music has come on labels like Running Back, Beats In Space and Brontosaurus amongst many others.

His single for Futureboogie pulls together two outstanding productions; ‘Birsk’ is a pacey and unrelenting beast of a house tune, its bassline expanding bigger than the waistlines over the Xmas period whilst the meaty drums and snare rolls escort in further melodic touches and delirious automation on its synth riff.

‘Kilian’ comes more leisurely in pace but no less effective.  A choir-like pad underpins the frenetic energy mustered up by Lauer, again adopting a heavyweight bassline against the nimble melodies and the buoyant vibes offered up here.  With a supreme sonic gloss and ‘never fails’ piano motif, ‘Kilian’ works wonders on every level and will no doubt be ringing all of speaker stacks for some time to come.
