In his new EP entitled “Bird”, released through dsrptv records' label, L_cio takes us to a new uncertain, but apparently familiar place, which is decoded during the different sound layers. With the participation of producer Gabriel Ide, the new work has 3 unreleased tracks and 2 remixes, one from producer Mari Herzer (Mamba Negra) and another from the label itself. Bird can be interpreted as an instrumental reflection on the urgency of reconnecting human nature with its space. In this way, L_cio increases the frequency of the infrasound emitted by the environment so that the listener understands the importance of achieving a balance between us and this visionary palace called Earth.

On "Eternal" I took advantage of the fact that my dear friend L_cio from Sao Paulo was staying at my place with his wife for a night during his European tour last year. Not only is he one of D-Edge's resident dj's but also a fantastic jazz flutist. Ever since hearing his coproduction with Portable on the Robert Johnson imprint ("A Process") I was itching to get him into my studio for a few flute takes. His contribution to "Eternal" is the icing on the cake that really makes this cinematic, meandering piece work.

THE MAGIC MOVEMENT is more than happy to present the debut album of BRUO.

Seven original tracks on 12“ vinyl, plus a bunch of club remixes in the digital package, the Brazilian duo presents their very own blueprint of Ambient/Electronica music, generated from radically processed cut-up guitars and sophisticated glitch beats. BRUO, which means „noise“ in Esperanto, is born from the deconstruction and re-editing of long improvisation sessions, arranged in succinct tracks and narratives which are stylistically located right in the middle between the minimalism of Alva Noto and the maximalism of Amon Tobin.
The 3rd double single „Gravito“ features the original and a club remix of fellow Brazilian artist L_cio, who turns the track into an uplifting 80s synth disco groover!

Ramona is proud to welcome back one of the most delicate flowers in the business to her flock of loved ones. Alan Abrahams, also better known under the monikers of Bodycode and Portable, returns with his new Single 'Surrender' under the Portable alias into Ramonas bosom.
'Surrender' takes their listeners on a five-minute-trip to a very emotional place right on the dance-floor. Soft synths, a cosy drum-rhythm and cheerful melodies build the perfect bed for Abrahams' longing voice and its deeply sensitive vocals. Moments of pure felicitousness will fill the air once this track slowly floats the room. Included on the single are the dub version of 'Surrender' and an acapella-piece. Ramona already gave herself up to the soft and warm sounds of mister Portable - why wouldn’t you?

What happens when you bring together a gifted multi-instrumentalist/producer, a cultural activist/DJ (both from Brazil) and a Chicago House legend? They create a stunning EP that remains true to MFF’s guiding principles and further solidifies the label’s commitment to celebrating the brilliance of true musical misfits in house music.

Robert Owens is an artist who needs no introduction. Arguably house music’s most recognizable voice, he was one-third of the legendary ‘Fingers Inc’ alongside fellow Chicago icons, Larry Heard and Ron Wilson. Now based in Berlin, Robert has also performed on many major club anthems including I’ll Be You Friend (David Morales), Mine To Give (Photek) and Lowlife (Layo and Bushwacker). A quote from i-D Magazine says it all, “If God could sing, he would sound like Robert Owens”.

L_cio (aka Laercio Schwantes) is a virtuoso flute player, studio maestro and live-electronic-musician with residencies in his native Sao Paulo and a string of prestigious festival appearances to his name including Dekmantel, DGTL, Mysteryland, and Rock in Ri. Navigating seamlessly between acoustic and digital production, L_cio's output transcends musical boundaries, as demonstrated by his instrumental contribution to Portable's 2014 crossover hit Surrender (‘Best New Track’ - Pitchfork).

Tessuto, is a former member of the diverse VoodooHop art collective, formed in Sao Paulo in 2009 with the aim of transforming the city’s abandoned buildings into creative spaces for music and art projects. In a city where 15,000 people live on the streets, Tessuto argues that reclaiming these areas is an important step in improving how people interact with their urban environment. Tessuto would subsequently create Carlos Capslock, the innovative squat parties dedicated to electronic music where L_cio, a fellow committed supporter of street-culture in Sao Paulo, is also a resident.

The coming together of these three artists began during the Pandemic lockdowns of 2020, when the world most needed a dose of unity and creativity. It started as a virtual jam session and led to two new productions being fully written, firstly Rising - a track featuring a sublime blend of strings and synths from the multi-instrumentalist L_cio, and the ever-timeless vocals from Robert. Followed by Get Back Up Again, a collaboration which brought in Paolo Tessuto to create an epic house/gospel fusion and a true testament to the power of electronic music to uplift and inspire.

On hearing the EP, we just had to send it to our friend of the label and the all-around-incredible-talent that is Luciano, who fell in love with Rising and gave us a 9-minute remix that blends all the musical elements into an epic minimal track.

I am a Brazilian artist and I really admire Mita Gami's work. I even did a remix for his track "Runnin" released by the "Borders of Light" label. The track "Sun" has an incredible narrative and I tried to maintain the bassline dynamics of the original, but using a synth (Minilogue) instead. I recorded a new bassline with a Vermona Monolancet and also created a vocal line with a slight dissonance, as well as new drum parts (TR-8). To finish, a slightly heavier arrangement and also a lead (Minilogue) with more melodic characteristics at the end. I hope you like it.

Combined sensitivity and power is the detail that distinguishes what is only beautiful from what is really sublime in artistic creation. Laercio Schwantes aka L_cio, as an instrumentalist and sweet flute player, managed to arrive at this synthesis in an exceptional way, being one of the most fascinating exponents of Brazil. Singular as a complete author, composing and producing all his musical journeys.
Journeys that go through the instigating contrast of its rhythmic-melodic complexity with the simplicity of its being. It is celebrated by the most demanding listeners and adored by the most fervent dancefloors, being simple to understand how it stands out in festivals like Dekmantel (São Paulo), DGTL (São Paulo), Mysteryland (Chile), Les Escales (France), two editions of Time Warp Brasil and two editions of Rock in Rio, besides appearing consistently in the booths of German institutions such as Salon Zu Wilden Renate, Robert Johnson and also animating global audiences in their three appearances in the Boiler Room Brasil. We present your Live in Beijing and Shanghai in China.
The charms of his music drove him to different places and took him across Europe, reaching countries like France, Malta, Lithuania and the catalog of labels like DOC, Soul Clap, Live At Robert Johnson, Perlon, Exploited, Steyoyoke, Get Physical , Archipel (Canada) and Mamba Negra Records (Mambarec) as well as helped him to profoundly transform the independent scene that nurtured him and explore the city that created him.
He had the privilege of being the only artist to make a remix authorized by Chico Buarque, an icon of Brazilian popular music. The work: “Construction 1971”. In 2018, he released his
1st album on D.O.C Records, entitled “Poema”, considered one of the albums of the year by Bravo magazine.
In his native São Paulo, L_cio is the centerpiece of the local scene, a well-known supporter of street culture, resident of innovative urban organizations such as Carlos Capslock, promoter of equality and universal access to culture. He is also the creator and curator of Akt (Party focused on Live Acts). Together with Tessuto he is the owner of the MEMNTGN records distributed by Kompakt. Tireless not only in a fruitful musical activity, but in the dissemination and promotion of the best values that it contains.
During this journey, he established partnerships (collaborations and remixes) with producers such as Patrice Baumel, Portable, Francesco Tristano, Nicola Cruz, Joyce Muniz, Blancah, Wehbba. In addition to the Techno circuit, L_cio also produced, remixed and collaborated with artists such as Lia Paris, Pablo Vittar, Filipe Massumi and André Nardi and was a member and founder of Teto Preto band.
And it is for such factors, among many others, that it is impossible not to be enchanted when we follow a career as solidly promising as his, in which artistic evolution and development are so closely intertwined. Or better yet, be part of it.
