New year, new 90’s South Africa mix with a focus on the 93-96 era. Previous years I’ve released a Kwaito mix on @ctw-podcasts  & @averagerecordsbln . This year I release it on my own page under the project name ‘Jam City’ which draws inspiration, both in name & artwork, from the original Kwaito project releases like Dance City, Ripp City, Dancemaster and so on. This one features the Kwaito DJ Tools, vocal sample tunes, Shangaan Disco, Import Mixes, Bubblegum stars turned Kwaito and the more out of the box renditions from the early and best era. All released on my favorite labels, produced by my favorite producers and featured on my favorite projects. Lots of recent uploads of mine, future uploads that will eventually find their way to my channel and uploads by fellow diggers whom I highly regard.

@phil_mill is a DJ, producer and cofounder of @alterdisco, a collective and party that brought to Southern Brazil's Curitiba a colourful assortment of dance music in its various facets together with Brazilian and worldly rhythms. This soft spot for wide ranging sounds from home or abroad translates into his mixes, productions and edits, some of which are featured in this mid tempo mix, which goes from ambient to zouk, Brazilian hip hop and house, tune in!

Strangely our podcast series hibernated during the summer but is now back to ironicly celebrate Fall rainy days.
Anyway, the weather cannot affect us as we have the infinite pleasure to welcome Manuel Darquart (@manuel-darquart) who's been a constant source of inspiration for at least the past two years. As a DJ and a producer, he's brought the very digger vibe we love, mixing together chill balearic gems with electronic bangers (in an amazing Semi Delicious way) and house classics. We have a special feeling for this podcast, not only because of Manuel's iconic moustache and mullet, nor because it took us months to chase for the mix, but because in addition of being a true role model, Manuel was also a genuine supporter of the label and we cannot thank him enough for what he's done !

Discothèque Tropicale is a London-based collective and label that celebrates borderless music and diverse creative cultures from across the world. Their global musical voyage has taken them to every corner of all things soulful and funky; with lots of Brazilian influence, Zouk, Soukous, Funaná and Reggae. Their record label has had a heavy focus on Afro-Carribean reissues (especially Zouk), and their upcoming release has already been played by heavyweight DJs such as Antal, Hunee and Palms Trax!

Keep an eye out for their future reissues, and until then, enjoy their Islander Cast which is true to form: rarified goodness from tropical climes!
