KOOKOO RECORDS continues their summer rollout with Boston Bun and “TSIFY”. A buzzing take on Bohannon’s “A Happy Song For You” the track gets sped up and spun out into a danceable delight. The song features bright guitars paired with a punchy kick and bass, which get hi-passed and layered with a vibrant new synth line to get us ready for the drop. New school house tastemakers Mason Collective make a big bang with their explosive Play It Say It label debut.

Mason Collective are a red hot outfit blowing up the house scene right now. The trio of DJs and producers hail from Manchester and next to their robust club tracks on labels like Whippin Records, Loco Dice’s Desolat and HotTrax, they also promote their own hugely popular - and always sold out - MVSON events.

Their no-nonsense style is here for all to see from the off; 'That's Gas' has a superbly programmed and tightly woven groove that is infectious and propulsive. Sci-fi sounds, filtered vocals and skewed synths peel off the urgent groove and demand you dance. The warm and rubbery 'Ready to Work' echoes Chicago great Gemini with its paranoid bass and vocals as well as high speed sense of house funk.

The wonky titular track shows another side to the collective: it's a freaky late night jam with daubs of melody, unhinged and wispy synths and a kinetic minimal house groove. This most expressive EP finishes with the slick tech and driving drums of 'Steezin', which has a flurry of 909s, taught bass and chopped up vocal sounds that will set any dance floor alight.

This is a fresh, high class take on house music from these contemporary stars.

'The Isolation Tapes came together accidentally during lockdown. Getting lost in the music-making process was our way to escape the feelings of anxiety and uncertainty which presented themselves with the emergence of Covid. We had no plan beyond escapism, but a cleared schedule gave us lots of time to explore new ideas. After we'd made a few tracks we started to realize the importance of bringing this music together under one project, a musical reference point for this strange period in time, and so the Isolation Tapes was born - a series of singles we made during lockdown whose titles all begin with a different letter from the word: I S O L A T I O N.' - Audiojack
