Moving Mountains (05/23/21)

Om Tare Tuttare is a mantra about transforming suffering into healing.  This class was Kate and I's first week back together after a long hiatus and we both did our best to allow this class to do exactly that. Hopefully the sounds resonate with your practice and bring you some healing too <3

Love Like Rumi (2/6/22)

This was a practice tied to the feeling of the seasonal change and refreshing feeling of Spring. We started slow and dispelled feelings from the winter while slowly making our way to the newness and brightness welcomed by the Spring months. Hope you enjoy! Timestamps below.

Spring Has Sprung

05/01/22
This class was held on May day of 2022 also known as Beltane.  Beltane is the Gaelic celebration that marks the transition from Spring into Summer.  The cattle are driven out to pasture and many different rituals are performed to protect the cattle, people and crops and to encourage growth.  Fire plays a prominent role and large effigies are built and burnt, fires are danced around and used to relight the flames within homes.  The music for this class was meant to evoke a sense of celebration, transition and heavily reference the flames burning and welcoming summer. Many blessings and happy listening!

Beltane Blessings

This recording was from the class immediately following the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe V. Wade, this country's decades long protection and affirmation of the constitutional right to abortion.  Being the son of a woman who chose to have an abortion before having me and being surrounded by many powerful women throughout my life and especially in our yoga environment made this decision all the more palpable but still ultimately incomprehensible.  Being Californians, we forget how protected some of our civil liberties are and how incredibly vulnerable they are in so many other places around this country.  This decision will undoubtedly lead to many harsh, unhealthy, and violent consequences as its impact continues to be felt.  Women around this country now have to covertly seek medical care across state lines, as though playing a game of dire espionage, even in extreme circumstances such as rape and familial molestation, that put their lives at risk and strip them of the ability to choose for themselves how they'd like their lives to be further impacted and forever changed by a situation that may not have even been their choice in the first place.  This class doesn't come close to alleviating any of that bleakness but I was humbled to hear that it struck a chord with some and hope that it does for you.

In The Face of Defeat

A practice in letting go.  Letting go of the past, letting go of weight, letting go of our attachments to who we were, letting go of who we think we're supposed to be and letting go of our expectations of what life should look like.  This practice and these sounds span decades but there's an activity in the shuffle and stride underneath all of the songs from this class.

Embracing Change (01/26/2020)

This is the first class of the month of Bhakti, the yogic practice of love and devotion.  This class was based on the writings of the classic poet Rumi and his explorations of Bhakti practice. The songs themselves were very improvisational and Rumi's words were interwoven throughout the class. Rumi's Love (02/02/2020)
