Following in the footsteps of Sawlin and Yan Cook last year, Ann Aimee has readied its next release. This one comes from UK tastemaker and Radio 1 presenter Mosca, and is his first release of the year after previous releases on labels like Martyn’s 3024 and Hypercolour.

First up is ‘It's Not What It Looks Like’ - a hunched over, industrial tinged house groove with rattling percussion and a heavy kick drum. Fully of grainy textures and clanging machines, the whole thing is backlit with serene pads and smeared with deft synth patterns. ‘Kneecap’ is even more direct, with tiny little off kilter chords bringing a sense of paranoia to the barrelling beats and bristling percussion. It’s muscular and heavy yet inviting, whilst final offering ‘Press Up’ is a beautifully swung bit of deep and atmospheric house – all the edges are nicely frayed and the whole thing is smoothed over with misty textures as the barrelled-up sense of funk grows more and more lively as things progress. It’s been a while since we heard from Mosca, but this one sure was worth the wait.

As always with this lovingly crafted label, the EP comes with full cover artwork by Boris Tellegen.

Vril is still a relatively little known artist but already he has some great accolades to his name: He has released a couple of great EPs on Giegling sub label Staub, had a track on Marcel Fengler's Berghain mix, Dettmann's Conducted and now appears with the 103rd release on Delsin. What he serves up is three titanic techno tracks designed with maximum dancefloor damage in mind.

So big are these productions that we got a message back from that well known mastering company in germany. For some mystified causes some of our expensive equipment was crashing during the mastering session (!). They’ve been mastering records since over 20 years and that has never happened before like this.

The Vortekz EP starts with the title track and it's a dramatic bit of big room techno with nerve gangling chords and plenty of sonic grit. The dub version is slower and more purposeful and is buried in a much wider, deeper groove that snakes more than stomps. Finally comes 'y7/10', which rocks back and forth in the same rusted loop as percussion flutters like tin foil in a stormy wind. The track flows an ever-higher arc of tension that eventually erupts into a sea of analogue fuzz and hiccupping techno beats.

Having re-emerged to great acclaim on Delsin in 2012 with an excellent album and EP offering, Manchester's Claro Intelecto is back once again. This time out, following the label re-releasing his debut EP Peace Of Mind, Claro is serving up four brand new tracks that fuse his usual deep, dubby house and techno stylings to swathes of lush ambiance and delicate sound design. 

First up is 'Remember', a mid-tempo track with thundering kicks and little malfunctioning machine noises floating in swathes of cavernous dub. Subtle rhythms emerge from the murk and tortured, ghoulish sounds imbue them with a real sense of paranoia. 'White Sun' is full of Claro Intelecto's usual smeared synth and weirdly atmospheric ambient sounds and only after two minutes does a slow, purposeful kick drum arrive, but even then you are rather left swirling and floating in his textural chambers than marching to a beat.

'A Nightmare Before Bedtime' is a melange of clipped and scary voices, grainy white noise gusts and heavy, lazy kick drums. Super slow and seriously moody, it's a perfectly unsettling track that is wholly befitting of its name. Finally, 'Blank CC' is the most direct thing here, where frazzled and serrated lines rip about above stormy synth seas. Prickly, ever more intense and full on non standard electronic sounds it's another of Claro Intelecto's abstract offerings that really arrests your attention.

After one and a half decade and more than 370 releases, Compost Records bundles some of their finest tunes as Various Artists digital download compilation albums. 
The variety and full spectrum of Compost’s repertoire has never or rarely been presented in form of a musical genre compilation. These releases will be compiled or DJ-mixed by Compost’s artists and are available as digital downloads, except in some rare cases very very limited as 500 CDs.
How to define ambient? In the strictest sense Compost Records hardly offers any of this. But what if you decide to look within tracks and add some darkness and deep beats here and there....? Well, there you have it.
Rupert & Mennert already dug into the big Compost archives to deliver selections of remixes, downbeat, experimental and jazz (vol. 1 & 2). This successor will be their sixth mixed selection. But this one is different... this time they dug so deep into the vault that they were actually lost for several weeks. Luckily they had their record player and laptop with them so they survived! And when they resurfaced, what did they dig up? A great compilation of literally ‘parts of music’. With a total of 20 tracks and loads of snippets, they deliver a mix of 67 minutes which is the ultimate ‘Compost Ambient Experience’! To listen to the tracks on their own is great, but mixed together it’s astonishing.
What to expect? Tracks from Jean Paul Bondy, Dan Curtin, Ben Mono, Felix Laband, Joash, Alif Tree, Taran, TJ Kong & Nuno dos Santos, The Nova Dream Sequence (= King Britt), Four Ears, Genf, KJM and Funkstörung. They also layed their hands on two new exclusive tracks which were never heard before on Compost. An old and rare track from Beanfield and a track from T_Mo (= Timo Garcia).
So please relax and treat yourself to the dark ambient sounds of the Compost cosmos!
Who are Rupert&Mennert?
They reside in Den Helder, The Netherlands. One of the most beautiful cities in the world. From there they send their fine radio show into the wide world. The show is currently re-invented. The Sound of Swound ran for more then 200 shows. But it will be replaced by something even better: “Weird Pigs - not for copycats”. Besides their love for broadcasting they produce music too. Together with Me Raabenstein they released, as Lagerfeltz, an album on Nonine Recordings, Berlin.Together with remix-work for Energie du Verre and Ensemble du Verre (Batterie Records, Hamburg) and Timo Garcia (Compost) their release-roster is building. The cherry on the cake is the selection of one of their remixes on the new Future Sound of Jazz 12 (picked by the Compost head-honcho himself).

04. Felix Laband - Minka And The Notes After

Sweden’s Bleak is fast becoming an essential part of his country’s techno new school. Through releases on Deeply Rooted House, Sudden Drop and Traut he has emerged as a producer of funky, loopy techno a la countrymen Skudge.

Here he debuts on Delsin with a fierce two tracker, Origins of Chaos. The first track ‘Sixteen Crude’ is a cantering techno cut with searing, warbling synths racing along above lazier, underlapping kicks. It’s a nice contrast that gives the acidic track plenty of depth, before the flipside, ‘Subject Target’ deals in more convoluted, whip-snap lines that thrash about like cables in a storm. Industrial yet human, it’s timeless techno that wraps you up in its midst and never lets you go.
