Passage - Have You Heard The Word

This is a VERY rare mix, available (so far as I know) only as played in the final credits of the movie "K-PAX."  It was not on the OST, and I have never found it anywhere else, so I ripped it from the DVD years ago.

Sheryl Crow - Safe & Sound (Rare K-PAX Mix)

This forgotten 1987 song, like other Kool & The Gang singles, was released to radio in a different version than appeared on the albums. (I like this version much better.) Like most of those singles, this edit (to my knowledge) has never been digitized, and is not currently available.

This track is from Jonathan David Brown's group "Seth" (which for a time included Kelly Willard) and its 1980 release "Keep The Fire Burning."  The album's title track has been viewable on Youtube, but this song, remixed from an earlier project, has not been.  

To my knowledge, this track is not available anywhere in digitized form, which is the reason I have posted it.  I claim no ownership rights in it.

Seth - My Friend

As I remember, this retro version of Bonnie's 1979 disco hit was available only on the flip side of the 45 rpm single.  Some have said that it might have been available on some editions of her 1978 album "Bonnie Pointer" (the "red" album), but I can't find any with the track.  In my part of the country, this retro version got far more airplay than the disco version, and it's the version that has stayed with me.

Bonnie Pointer - Heaven Must Have Sent You (Retro Version)

The "Family of Love" was a group of studio musicians and vocalists assembled in 1977 for one project, "The Bible: A Rock Testament." The assemblers and producers were rock music legends Paul Buckmaster and Martyn Ford. (Google them; you'll be impressed.) Contributors included Ray Cooper (of Elton John fame) and studio stalwart Hugh Burns (Gerry Rafferty and many others). The project was a double album "faux" musical, with songs generally following the stories and order of the Protestant Christian Bible. This song, "There Is Born A Child," was the album's best. During the 1980s, it was redone as "Star Song" by Sheila Walsh.

Family of Love - There Is Born A Child

"Tender Love" is the lead track from "Which Side Are You On," the last album by the CCM band The Hope (previously called Hope Of Glory).  "Tender Love" was the the band's biggest radio hit, but the title track (yes, the old folk standard written in 1931 by Florence Reece) also got substantial airplay. The band toured quite a bit, and had a fluctuating lineup, but managed to record four albums before disbanding in the early 1980s.

Hope [Of Glory] - Tender Love (1980)

This is Warren Barker's version of the closing theme for "Gunsmoke," the TV western that ran for twenty years on CBS, ending (I think) in 1976.  It's a pretty faithful version, and evokes fond memories of the show.

This track is not available anywhere right now, save on some rare and highly-priced used CDs and LPs. Prism was a 1980s music project by by Mark Heimermann and Chris Harris, who later collaborated with dc Talk, tobyMac and others through the 1990s and 2000s.  The pair produced three albums plus a "Hits" disc, all picturing kids who, interestingly, did not perform on any track. This is my favorite song of the bunch.
