A stunning and expansive world conjured by Aaqila aka halalbutch

Aaqila is a writer, artist, DJ and community organiser based on Whadjuk land and sometimes Gadigal land. Their habitude operates towards providing tools for collective liberation beyond the tools of the institution; which manifests in different ways from the dinner table to the gallery. Their threads of research are drawn from Malay-Anglo subjectivities and move slowly through contemporary and ancestral understandings of gender, collective healing and embodied ritual. They have written for numerous publications across so-called Australia including Disclaimer Journal, un Magazine, Granville Centre Art Gallery, sweet pea and several more. They recently participated in the Muslim Poetry Project with Sweatshop Literacy Movement and the Asia Pacific Exchange Program with Perth Institute of Contemporary Art and Grey Projects in Singapore. They also perform and DJ semi-regularly under varying pseudonyms.

Having released albums under labels such as Ninja Tune, Planet Mu, Lucky Me, Hotflush and Merk, Machinedrum is a music producer and film composer originally from North Carolina, now residing in California.

Machinedrum has worked for vocalists such as Azealia Banks, A$AP Ferg, Shelly FKA DRAM, Tanerélle and Jesse Boykins. He has also remixed for artists such as Solange, Bonobo, Kelis, Rudimental, DJ Shadow and even Johnny Cash. He has also scored for films including Black Swan and the German true-crime drama Das Geheimnis Des Totenwaldes known internationally as Dark Woods.

The Midday Mix - Machinedrum

Introducing FEVER BREAK, a performer, artist and DJ operating on Gadigal land. Known for her anarchic and unpredictable style, she's driven by an insatiable passion for discovering new music. Unenthused by the idea of genre, she blends whatever feels right. 
 
Having co-founded TeamLottaLove, FEVER BREAK understands the importance of resistance through music and community within Eora's rave scene. Proudly of Palestinian descent, this resistance through art means much more. Left feeling emotional and powerless, remembering love is resistance, she refuses to let the pain, the strength and the music made in rebellion be forgotten, and vows to share it whenever given the opportunity.

Having completed his first international tour in 2022, visiting major hotspots such as Bali, Jakarta, Bandung and Semarang, DJ Smilez is a Melbourne DJ known for his curated and infectious sets. He has ceremoniously transformed from a nightclub DJ to an internationally touring artist and made a name for himself for his unaccustomed music selections and the the euphoric-like expeirence he projects when performing. He has achieved this by distinctiveley championing an unaccustomed sound that blends Global Club, Electronic and World music.

Cenny Coast yobbo convert MidSizedSedance is a Central Coast/Sydney based DJ and Producer, commonly found under a freeway overpass; playing a barraging blend of huge kicks and chopped up drum breaks known loosely as Breakcore. 

MidSizedSedances DJ Mixes focus on high tempo alternative rave music. They often include live performances of their own music performed on a mix of modified gameboys, samplers and occasionally will put the decks away for an all hardware performance.

MidSizedSedance is one of several members that make up 200Pluscrew (200BPM+ Is My Safe Space), an anticapitalist record label and rave crew ran out of Eora and Naarm. Known for its free, community-focused and inclusive parties, showcasing some of Australia's best alternative rave elements across both NSW and VIC.

An unassuming revolutionary in Australian music, there are few local parallels for what moktar is now achieving, having more in common with scenes and artists emanating out of the UK, US or the Middle East instead. He has carved a singular lane for himself, exploring an exuberant and irrepressible combination of Arabic and Middle Eastern instrumentation, rhythms, melodies and tonalities with rattling techno, precise, tightly-wound IDM, fidgety sample work and raucous breakbeats. Expressive, dynamic and textural, his compositions are simultaneous explorations of what it means and sounds like to exist at the interstices of cultures, as well as proud exercises in centring and practising his own rich culture through his music. It also helps that they happen to go unbelievably hard when blaring out of a club stereo system.
