Deventroit is a deep and loopy groove with warm, silky bass and catchy vocal samples stitched in to bring the soul. It really gets you in a spell and then West picks up the pace with more turbulent bass and gritty percussion as well as a more edgy vocal. It adds up to a nice intense track that keeps you on your toes. 

Last of all, Arcardic is the most special of the lot, with soft synths dancing over muted tones, skeletal beats and deft piano chords. It's lithe and infectious and rounds out a fantastic EP.

5 Mag review Jan 25 - Chateau Chepere has released five EPs in the last four years and every one of them has a sparkle and a shine. Now they’re ramping up: Jacksonville‘s Ski Jacket 87 EP is actually their second release of 2024, comprised of four tracks of deep house thick as marble and with that characteristic Chateau Chepere gleam.

“Again And Again” is positively hypnotic, with a hip-swing and sashay that is irresistible. These tracks have a head-in-the-clouds vibe to them but they’re so rooted — the drums pop and the bassline wraps around you and these tracks never totally let you go. The title track for “Ski Jacket 87” is the best example of that — pads flicker and kiss some moody horns but it’s just too funky on the bottom, where we live sinfully.

“Fludd” feels like an homage to Fingers’ “Can You Feel It,” bringing a familiar sense of warmth and well-being to everyone within earshot.
