New Mixes - Hardcore, Doomcore, Speedcore, and more

In 2014 I created a tribute mix for the music of Mouse and No Name (also known as Auto-Psy and Erase Head, or "The Michelson Sisters"). It spread around the internet quite quickly, was re-posted by many famous DJs and producers (and other people), and is by far my most listened-to mix - all plays combined, it has something like 18,000 plays in total.
As the point of my tribute mixes is to put music from the past that is often overlooked or pushed aside in favor of other (and probably lesser) music into view again, I hope with that mix I maybe succeeded a bit.
But the output of these marvelous producers is more vast than what could be featured in one mix.
So it was due time to do a follow-up to the original mix, many years later, that focused on other output by these two - who are, in my opinion, two of the best, most creative, and most awe-aspiring producers ever!
To give a bit of background and info to Mouse and No Name for those who might not be familiar with them yet (but how could that be possible?) I included the text I wrote for my original mix, too:

i can't find many artists that could compare to this. the sheer level of complexity is overwhelming. some of the best somatic responses productions could compare - in complexity and experimentation of sounds. or the most intricate construction of underground PCP via acardipane. yet, maybe it is not right to compare this music - as it plays in its own universe. frantic noise, shrill, alien screams - often driven home by a powerful bassdrums, and killer punctured beats and hits. for some reason, i never compared this so much with other music, but to other forms of art, movies, pictures. this would fit well to dystopian cyberpunk picture, an onslaught of screeching robots pacing through a destroyed, wrecked industrial wasteland.
there are so many things i am missing in most hardcore that are in the michelsons' productions; changes of beats, tempo, complex track structures with many twists, beginnings, endings, turnarounds. lengthy intros of weird noises, laughter, ambient drones. some michelson records fetch high sums at collectors at this time, and rightfully so.
while many other of their contemporary artists around their decades became quite "famous" by now, known also to the dreaded "gabber" and "breakcore" crowd, the michelson sisters still seem to be kind of a secret hint, with a cult following. yet, they are already legends, in their regard, in their own way.

Born in 1980 into the dark and rainy city of Hamburg in Northern Germany, age of 14 I got into the Techno/Rave wave that swept over Europe. I always craved harder music, so I eventually I got into Hardcore and Gabber. I then discovered more genres such as Speedcore, Breakcore, Acid- and Doomcore. The desire to become a music producer myself formed, beginning to seriously produce in autumn 1997.

I never limited myself to one style, I produced Speedcore, Breakcore, Dark Ambient, Noize - back then essentially all of this was part of the "Experimental Hardcore" scene. In 1998 I got more interested in productions that didn't just have "Speed, Noise and Distortion", but also started incorporating dark or futuristic atmospheres and melodies into my sound. 1998 also saw my first vinyl appearance: a 800 Bpm Speedcore affair called "Adrenaline Junkie", released on the Biophilia Allstars compilation.

In 2000 my first full vinyl EP was released, the "Anti-Sedative" EP on Blut Records. Vinyls that followed were the Kougai split Ep with Cdatakill, Anarcho-Psychotic EP on Praxis, and self titled 2x12" on Widerstand. I was disappointed in the way the Breakore and other scenes evolved, so I became vmore interested in the Techno side of Hardcore again. The result of this was the Acid Massacre EP on Black Monolith, and the Doomcore styled "Emerald Planet" 12" on the same label (including a The Man Unknown remix). My final farewell to the Breakcore scene was the "Malfunction" EP for Praxis, which was not released until 2018.

I took break from the Hardcore scene beginning in 2004, and returned in 2008. The concept of releasing on vinyl had diminished, so I started to release digitally, first on my own, then on established netlabels. Around 2011 I focused my production on Doomcore; and to this day this is the style most of my newer tracks are, and the style I'm most known for. While my interest in producing Doomcore began with the desire to include Techno rhyhms in my music, this was later joined by the fascination towards dark, haunting or generally out of the ordinary melodies. But I also kept producing other music, too, such as Speedcore and Dark Ambient.

This was the beginning of a very intensive wave of producing tracks and doing releases. Until 2023, I did over 300 relesses on digital, vinyl, CD, cassette, and produced somewhere between 1500-2000 tracks. 2019 saw the release of my first full length EP on vinyl after 14 years, the "Pleiades EP" on Teknoland Productions.

low entropy: This is a track I planned to do for 27 years...
Back at age 16, when I had just begun producing, I envisioned doing an oversize track with a runtime of an hour.
But I wanted to avoid the three most common ways to do this:

1. Making a monotonous "drone"-like track with little and slow changes

2. Making a continuous live-jam

3. Making a "megamix" type of track where a succession of mini-tracks fade into each other.

What I wanted to do instead was to create a track with a complex and complicated super-structure. Where themes and sequences are introduced, broken apart, re-called, intermingled...
Where, for example, moments of the first minutes can reappear 40 minutes later, but changed, layered with other elements...
With total chaos but also steady, straight elements...

An ever-changing meta-morphosis and hyper-architecture.

I failed to do this "gigantic" project at age 16.
But slowly, over the years, I gained and collected the necessary abilities and remaining ideas to work on such a task.

And here it is!

When i got into the hardcore scene in the mid 90s, "manga corps" was just released and it made everyone's charts, in those charming xeroxed paper fanzines from around the world. it had also one of the first tracks i heard by mr. guillaume, first wave, together with "seven" on the now infamous biomechanik compilation by manu le malin.
of course i had known "the meltdown" earlier, from my techno and ravey days, as it was a big hit in that scene then. the next introduction deeper in the works of the man was via pcp, with release like "negative burn" or "renegade legion". "gates of heaven" still holds a dear place in my memory, with this absolutely out of space, alien intro with a hint of odd marching beats.
when i went to my first big indoor hardcore rave - "operation nordcore II" in the hamburg markthalle - of course dr. macabre played and his big kicks, sawtooths and other sounds left a lasting mark on me.
what showed me the whole spectrum of his works then was the release of the paranoid archives. all the killers, all the sonic exploration in one place, in perfect sound quality.

so what defines the sound of monsieur macabre? it's maybe a bad thing most people pin him to hardcore or techno, as his work goes vastly beyond the limitations of these genre. we have tracks like "hiroshima", that starts as an electronic ambient work, only to break down into a mad array of beats and distortion a few minutes later. or the already mentioned "first wave" that with its sounds jacks you to a surreal sonic trip.
we often find a very strong synth and melody work in his works. he is one of the only artists in "hardcore" where, to me, the melodies don't feel just as a gimmick, another channel to add to the sequenced sounds, but would work as a standalone thing too.
maybe the renegade legionnaire is best described as an electronic experimenteer in the strong history of this music in france.
from acid to techno, to gabber and ambient, his works spans the widest field of sound. oh yeah and one more thing. he does *killer* bassdrums.

this is mostly a historic perspective here; the logical choice for a tribute. but the music he did in later years and nowadays should not be forgotten either; it's often wide different from his roots, but again a very unique style, spacey experimental and bizarre. kicking, rushing, astonishing sounds.
so take a look at all aspects of his work!

LOW ENTROPY - HSR Presents IB36 Meets SCWW - Collision Of The Forces

...born 1980 in Hamburg, Germany. in 1996 i discovered the world of hard electronic music...
 and immediately fell in love with it... i never heard music with that extreme energy and passion behind it before...
 in 1997 i decided to create music myself... my style back then was mostly experimental hardcore, breakcore and speedcore...
 in 2000 i had my first release then, my 12" on Blut recordings.
 later that year, Betty Bombshell and me started a show on the terrestrial radio station "FSK" in Hamburg.
 the idea of the show was to broadcast music from the experimental and hard music scenes to an audience that might have not much contact with that kind of sound before. Betty left the show in 2001. 

 there was still a need for that kind of thing in Hamburg; Sampler19 and me teamed up, and we created the "Hamburg Hardcore Radio" show.
 apart from playing old and new records and tracks from the hard scenes on air, we also did many all-night shows, featuring a lot of guest DJs. later, The Man Unknown and DJ Escada joined us, and we started a crew that did the radio shows together.

 in 2002 a 12" by me was released on Praxis, i was very happy about this release, but i do not want to hype myself here, so i won't say too much.
 later that year my 12" on Black Monolith came out, which was again a bit different than my earlier releases, because it was an Hardacid/Acidcore EP.
 2002 was also the year when me and Sampler19 started the "All-Out Demolition!" parties in Hamburg. later, DJ Escada and The Man Unknown joined our crew there, too.
 the idea of All-Out Demolition! was to create a party series for the extreme, interesting and experimental types of Hardcore and Breakcore - parties for that type of sound only happened very rarely in Hamburg back then.
 in 2003, an album by me was released on Widerstand records. but again, i do not want to hype myself too much. the sound was in the various "styles" i produced in so far... breakcore, noize, ambient...

today the styles of the music i produce include breakcore, acidcore, doomcore and dark ambient.
