Bruises, the collaborative alias of Ingot and Draize, make a hell of a mark on HSR with the Cogs EP. The duo, out of the Lost Recordings camp, marks a significant moment for Heavy Sonics, being the 20th release to showcase the label’s continued commitment to deep, forward-thinking underground drum & bass.

Bruises deliver a masterclass in minimal, tech-driven sonics, every element stripped back to industrial grade for maximum impact.

Cogs, the title track, sets the tone immediately: an ominous atmosphere gives way to a mechanical groove laced with gritty bass textures and industrial stabs. It's dark, unrelenting, and full of subtle left turns. A proper introduction to Bruises’ refined sound palette.

Menace is aptly named. The haunting vocal that creeps through the intro sets a chilling tone before it drops into precision-engineered drums and weighty sub pressure. It grows and mutates with intricate percussive bursts that keep the energy taut and evolving.

Penance takes things deeper still, opening with an eerie ambience that hints at something just out of reach. It's hypnotic and steady, bolstered by a big snare and ghostly FX. It’s a track that rewards close listening while still hitting hard on a system. Pure journey material.

Closing things out is Stratagies, a standout moment and an apparent favourite among the Heavy Sonics crew. With a dramatic build and an old-school Ulterior Motive vibe, this one's primed for dancefloor destruction. The groove is infectious, and the sound design is immaculate. A high-energy payoff to a masterful four-track EP.

Big up Bruises, they've absolutely smashed this one! Essential for fans of: Skeptical, Alix Perez, Ulterior Motive, and the deeper edges of 170.

Low5, born in Roermond started out as a drummer in his basement. After a few years he got in touch with the ‘Bass-genre’ we know today as it is. On that day in 2013 he made a decision, he was going to produce these songs that he so much liked.

With his background as a drummer he’s got flow, and isn’t afraid to show it.
Low5 stand for good music, music that comes from within, music not just to dance on but also music which touches your heart.
