Sheffield’s saddest siblings Low Duo kick off 2014 with the release of their fifth recording ‘Everything Was Blurred EP’ (released 14 April on People Are Strange Records) and while it’s clear they haven’t cheered up at all, the songs on here will at least make their fans happy.

In a little over three years Low Duo have become one of Sheffield’s most widely acclaimed bands. Their strict one voice/one musical instrument formula has won them consistent, ongoing support from the likes of The Guardian, Drowned In Sound, BBC 6Music and XFM, while songs from their last two releases have been licensed to appear in SuicideGirls films. The brothers have been hailed for producing “the most beautiful body of music to come out of Sheffield in this generation.”

Continuing to experiment within their own minimalist genre, Low Duo’s fifth release is a concept record that mixes scuzzy guitar songs and spoken word poetry to detail the story of a crumbling relationship where suspicions and rumours give way to reality in the most heartbreaking way possible.

Starting with an ominous and anonymous telephone call, the EP’s narrator walks us through a journey of gossiping work colleagues, blank eyed denials and a violent conclusion in less than 15 minutes.

While heavier than recent offerings, ‘Everything Was Blurred EP’ stays true to Low Duo’s original vision, refusing to incorporate anything more than guitar and voice and focusing on the emotion of the songs above all else. 

The six track EP is available to buy from Low Duo's Bandcamp page (www.lowduo.co.uk) as a lovingly made limited edition CD package or as a digital download and the brothers are inviting people to spend what they can afford. The release will also be available on all major online stores and digital services including iTunes and Spotify.
