Sometime around June 1978, we checked out Dylan's "Street Legal" from the local Radford library. I'm not sure who decided to do this, but we were all aware that this guy Bob Dylan existed, probably by some weird osmosis kicked of by seeing Gomer Pyle sing "Blowing In the Wind" on "Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C". None of us knew what to make of this strange singer with the raspy voice. If I remember correctly, we took it back to the library immediately.

I guess Mike somehow saw something in Dylan though, and he either bought or checked out "Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits", the album released in 1967. As I look at the track listing, all of the songs, with the exception of the execrable "Just Like a Woman", are wonderful. I *may* have been aware of "Like a Rolling Stone", but I am not sure. I don't remember listening to any of these songs for the first time, except for the song I cover here. But I do remember that one, and where I was at the time: In front of the chair that was in front of the plate glass window in the living room, just beside the front door.

El dragón es el antiguo Enemigo, el Demonio; el despertar es la resurrección del
Señor; las multitudes son la comunidad de los fieles y la pantera es Jesucristo.
Para atenuar el estupor que puede producir esta alegoría, recordemos que la pantera no era una bestia feroz para los sajones, sino un sonido exótico, no respaldado por una representación muy concreta. Cabe agregar, a título de curiosidad, que el poema Gerontion, de Eliot, habla de Christ the tiger, de Cristo el tigre.

Nowhere To Turn

Pure happenstance, I walked into Jade records, was impressed by their catalogue and got chatting to the manager and owner. 
What can I say, i'm a music nerd.
Next thing I know I was asked to play a set for their instore sessions series. Every instore session they do has a theme and being that I was in Sweden on a visual art residency I went with ‘Vinyl records I bought whilst in Stockholm’…When I travel I make a habit of buying records that reflect my current emotions and if possible the current state of the world, creating part of an archive of my time on this planet.
