The North Base team has had a very busy 2013. Not only did they smash it at massive shows for the Warehouse Project and Fabric London, they’ve also performed at a number of festivals including Global Gathering, Creamfields, Kendal Calling, Parklife and Hideout.

Remarkably, the lads have still found time to put together their brand new album just in time for the Christmas period, and have decided to release it as a FREE DOWNLOAD for all of their fans around the world!

This new release, entitled 'THE ALBUM', is a 15-track masterpiece, which takes the listener through the full spectrum of modern electronic dance music. The album has been 2 years in the making, and features previously unreleased tracks, as well as some that have been battering the music world for some time now.

North Base have been receiving massive support from artists such as Skream and Benga, MistaJam, B-Traits, Chase and Status, Friction, DJ Hype, Annie Nightingale, Redlight, Breech, TC, Matrix and Futurebound, Charlie Sloth, DJ Target and many, many more. As a result of this, the group decided it was the right time to release all of their music in one great album for the world to hear.

Be sure to check out the lads’ remix of ‘Smile’ by Benga ft. Charlie Demo, and their ‘Problem Child’ Remixes of the 2 classic dance anthems, SL2’s ‘DJ’s Take Control’ and Outlander’s infectious, ‘The Vamp’. There are also other massive cuts on the album such as last years classic North Base track ‘Jammin’, which has gained huge support from Skream and Benga on BBC Radio 1!

Breaka usually runs in very different circles, producing footwork, juke and DnB from his home in Leeds. These are the first tunes of his at a slower tempo to be released but you can certainly hear those influences loud and clear in these certified UK 125-130bpm bangers.

Samurai Breaks unleashes unadulterated breakbeat pressure in the form of the ‘Putting in Werk EP’. Jungle roots and early hardcore vibes feature heavily throughout and with years of experience under his production belt, this new offering is nothing short of a musical education.

Title track vibes a run with ‘Putting in Werk’. A hip hop sampled frenzy full of vocal stabs, rave breaks and an array of ‘92 vibes. All this mixed with an up to date time signature, crisp production and a bucket load of atmosphere.

GQ is certainly the greatest host to ever do it in the jungle scene, probably why he gets sampled so much and ‘Power Hour’ is no exception to the rule. MC vibes flood through the speakerbox, taking you back to the 5-6 in the morning time slot with gritty eyeballs, sore noses and trainers sticking to the concrete. Shouts to Private Caller on this one.

You can’t produce an EP like this and forget about synth chord stabs right? Thankfully ‘Rush’ delivers on all aspects of the requirements and rocks both a tidy sequence of DX7 flavours and rough, tough and somewhat dangerous to your speakerbox breakbeats.

‘Bad Boy Beats’ wraps up the EP in true to form style. A rollercoaster ride of borderline early happy hardcore meets breakbeat techno. Chuck in some jungle vocal samples and what you have here is the perfect end to this trip and the gateway to the next episode.

Ravers rejoice as Samurai Breaks has brought back Fantazia, Obsession and The Edge all at once here. If you remember then good on you and if you want an education into the world of early hardcore.. raise up your hands and leave that iPhone in your pocket.
