Open Soul Session #33 - Atomic Moog | Recorded at Gallia

This is an exclusive session of Vand as part of Mostra Barcelona Festival (@mostrabcn) for HOC. 
"I am on top of the castle; strategic position, checkpoint and contemplative space. The pink light comes out from behind Tibidabo and tells me that the night is approaching from the Mediterranean. Breeze with the scent of spring. The city at my feet is like a game of Micro Machines. And I, as if I were a giant, dance hypnotized the deep and essential beats of a soundscape that I never want to end."

Vand’s (@vandmusic) sets are explorations into story-telling hypnotica with a crossover from ambient to dancefloor material. With releases on Nyame Records (@nyamerecords), a double EP collaboration with Bas Dobbelaer on Something Happening Somewhere (@sohaso) and his solo appearance on Madrid based F-on’s Alpenglühen (@f-ondj), he is now mostly affiliated to the ISOTOOP collective (@isotoop), helping with the organisation of events and transmitting their unique global sonic identity.

Based in southern Germany, Nils is a DJ/ Producer driven by his passion for music. Influenced by classical genres, he combines natural sounds and textures with rhythms and grooves from electronic and acoustic music to create his own style.

We have prepared something special for the last week of this year. Jin has created an elegantly mixed journey that is smooth in its toughness. Dreamy pads are sitting on the proto beats like the Scottish fog over the frozen landscape.

ARTIST'S BIO:
Jin [靜], a Taiwanese female DJ, musician, and sound artist based in London, blends various textural and experimental analogue noise elements into her music. She plays synthesisers, modular, and a variety of microphones for field recording. During her live performances, Jin seeks to create an abstract, meditative atmosphere for her audience by freely improvising with her set-up. Recently, she has devoted herself to the field of sonic art and is constructing her own instruments and DIY microphones in order to produce unique sounds.

In 2022 September, Jin launched a series entitled "Jin Invites", in which she invited her musical friends to create a unique mix for this project. She would then listen to the mix and design a cover artwork for it, with the mix being released at the start of each month.

Within the subtle deepness: JOACHIM SPIETH

— Artist Intro —

Joachim Spieth is a German DJ, music producer and label owner who emerged musically in the late nineties and has since developed a multi-faceted spectrum of sound between the poles of ambient and spherical techno. Characteristic for his work is the attention to detail and a sensitive sensorium for the creation of atmospheres, which one can hardly escape, no matter if this takes place in his studio work or in his performances.

After several years of intensive collaboration with Wolfgang Voigt’s Kompakt imprint, he founded his own label, Affin, in 2007, which has been constantly developing ever since and has made a name for itself internationally. Besides quite a few EP’s and collaborations, he has released a number of albums in the past years such as Irradiance, Tides, Ousia, Terrain as well as the recently released Reshape projekt, which features variations of his music tracks by Alva Noto, ASC, bvdub and others. In addition to the albums, the Textures Sound Library series was created, which impressively document Spieth’s musical development. As a DJ, Joachim Spieth has been performing in more than 30 countries all over the world. He’s driven by an absolute devotion to music and his pleasure to share it.
