The “Vizion”- Story kicked off in 2017 when Cali P listened to a Migos Remix built by TEKA.
“This riddim, which later became “Life Lesson”, sounded exactly what I wanted my music
to sound like. You hear that warm-sounding Roots riddim blending up with the fresh
sounds from the UK & the USA. So, I contacted TEKA, who always contributed to my
previous albums. He told me that he had some more Riddims in that style.” These
experimental riddims made the Guadeloupe rooted and Switzerland-based singer gassed
up for a session at TEKA's Studio in Berlin. It clicked from the time Cali P entered the
studio, as TEKA recalls “I played some riddims for Cali, and he immediately started to
write and didn't stop.” And he added, “When Cali writes lyrics, he has a great intuition for
the metric of his sentences, which leads to great melodies that stuck in your head.” And
so, within their first 48 hours, Cali P & TEKA recorded 8 songs

The “Vizion” remix album is the consistent further development of Cali P X TEKA´s “Vizion” album, which they released in September 2021. The original “Vizion” received great feedback around the globe. The German radio station Cosmo picked “Vizion” as their album of the week and tracks from the album were aired on BBC 1Xtra, KEXP, Nova, Mouv, SRF3, DasDing, and others. In December 2021 Cali P X TEKA started to launch their remix project which aimed to premiere several remixes by international tastemakers and radio hosts. The first one was Jamie Rodigan on WhyNow Radio who premiered the Swing Ting Remix of “Rise Up & Shine”. In mid-January the legendary Capital Xtra Host Ras Kwame first played “When You Hold Me”, which was remixed by the Grammy nominated producer team Crate Classics. Not even a week later the Jamaican songbird and radio host Alaine gave the “Crazy” remix by Dancehallrulerz it´s first spin on the airwaves. Just three days later Cali P´s voice was on BBC 1 Xtra, where the notorious Seani B was so into the “Girlfriend” remix by DJ Smo, that he had to play it three times in his show. The Dub remix by TEKA, which was the blueprint of the remix project, was premiered in mid-February by Germany´s most diverse radio station Cosmo. Now in the end of February, Cali P X TEKA will reveal the full remix project with one of their dearest friends Shanique Marie. 
She is the first lady of Jamaican´s  avangardistic dancehall team Equiknoxx. With her vocal skills & her flawless capability to make every genre here own she spice of TEKA´s remix of “People Want More”. Her open mind and genre free music led her to collaborations with Krayzie Bone (Bone Thugs-N-Harmony), UK´s dance music icon Flava D, or LA-based producer Lex Luger. Publications like Mixmag, DJ Mag or Resident Advisor rate her soulful vocals. The connection with Cali P is a long-lasting one since their collaboration on “Coconut Jelly Man” was included on Cali P's Billboard Charting "I Thoughts" album. Millions of streams made it a milestone in both careers and now she is the perfect match to round up the “Vizion” remix project of Cali P X TEKA.

When did you have your last conversation with a good friend at sundown in the park, listening to some music on a boombox? Yesterday? Last week? Too long ago? Anyway, you know that feeling. The bass floats around while the conversation becomes blurred after some while… what a sweet life!

Today, November 8th, Cali P x TEKA release their second common EP “Vizion II”. Despite their diverse characters and emotions, the four tracks reinforce the spirit of their first “Vizion” EP released this January: A musical melting pot of analog vintage reggae sounds affected by current hip hop and trap loans. The warm wobbling basslines of “Congo Natty” and the dubby fruitiness of “Crazy” create an easy life vibe, enriched by soothing vocals. Meanwhile, “Girlfriend” is a charming uptempo dancehall banger and the brand-new weed anthem “People Want More” is backed by a forward pushing stepper beat.

TEKA as the musical mastermind behind “Vizion” has created hits for the likes of Lutan Fyah, Richie Spice, Ziggi Recardo, Trettmann and Megaloh and more within the last 15 years. In 2005, his “Crystal Woman” riddim got voiced by the energetic deejay Cali P among others – which led to a close work relationship. Since then, Cali collaborated with artists like Walshy Fire, Capleton, Equiknoxx, Swing Ting & Massive B. In late 2018, Cali P and TEKA launched “Vizion” on the freshly founded label LowLow Records as a new project exploring the hybridity of reggae and hip hop.

Now, at the end of this decade, it’s time for the sequel, “Vizion II”: So get your phone, connect it to your speakers and immerse yourself and your friends in this feel-good atmosphere!

“Rise Up and Shine” as the opening single of Cali P x TEKA's EP "VIZION III" incorporates Cali P’s personal life mantra: “out of every struggle we should make success”. In times of increasing stress levels and productivity demands this is a well empowering reminder. The afrobeat-flavoured reggae riddim by TEKA develops that positive message to a brightly shining good vibes anthem. Inspired by that and motivated by long-lasting friendships with Cali P, both Ghana’s Grammy nominee Stonebwoy and Nigeria’s singer and saxophonist Sean Kuti (obviously son of Fela) blessed the track with feature parts.

Back then, Cali P was introduced to Fela Kutis work by his father who is also a musician. The original afrobeat sound became crucial for Cali P’s own sound aesthetic, which makes him even more proud to host these two important West African artists. The thing went full circle and they also asked Cali P’s dad to play the shakers for this song, even if he lives in Guadeloupe. The message is honest and clear: Overcome your struggles and shine!

Calling all skankers: Kingston's notorious chainsaw voice Chi Ching Ching has recorded a straightforward bashment banger at LowLow studios in Berlin. ‘‘Thunder‘‘ is about loudly clapping bootys and the heat of the night. The raw energy of the riddim built by TEKA reflects the party that took place the night before. Ching directly fell in love with the dynamic and pumping bass line: ‘‘This is a real dancehall riddim!‘‘, he shouted pouring up his crystall glass with Hennessy.
Chi Ching Ching is a champion of his craft. In his career he easily transformed from a street dancer in Kingston‘s famous night life to an international reclaimed recording artist. Currently, Ching is signed to Sean Paul‘s Dutty Rock label and has toured the world on numerous occasions.

Caribbean-Guadeloupean -Swiss reggae artist Cali P goes hard on “Hit Like Gunshot” lyrics written while in quarantine in Gambia, West Africa during the COVID-19 pandemic. Evocative lyrics flow from a river of emotions related to the murder of George Floyd in the US city of Minneapolis by the police and the anti-racism protest movement towards change worldwide.  

A soul-stirring Afrobeats groove by Berlin-based producer Teka (also producer on Cali P’s Vizion) and acoustic guitar lines drive a potent brew of timely poetry exclaiming systematic racism, focusing on the root cause of the upheaval: "Slavery abolished but nottin’ demolished the schooling system support the damage." and calls out the injustice saying "there’s been too much unjust ruling" asking "Where is the justice, for those who die?" The artist makes searing observations in the context of his comparable safety in Africa, versus America, building his home as the bridge with its melancholic refrain states: “It happened in May….”  

A music video for “Hit Like Gunshot” filmed in Gambia, features vivid images of protesters in support of Black Lives Matter worldwide, carrying signs with messaging in solidarity. The names of many that have been victims of police brutality are listed as Cali P contemplates the global movement towards change from his perspective from the streets of Gambia.
