Perlas Label

One early morning in Athens during a little online digging session I stumbled across Ecuador-based artist Entrañas' Bandcamp page - a rich treasure trove of self-released EPs and singles that only dates back two years - a surprising discovery since there's so much music on there! I was instantly drawn to his experimental club take on Latin American soundscapes, incorporating elements of reggaeton and dembow whilst keeping this very futuristic and often metallic feeling to the records. He also runs the CUMBIA.TU.MENTE (CTM) record label, also launched in 2020, where he has released music from the likes of NTFL (who he collaborates with often), Kaifo, PVSSY, Malafama, Hannah Lee and more. There was also the recent release of a mammoth 17-track compilation 'CTM / DEATH IS NOT THE END', out in December last year, with tracks contributions from a lot of the label's staples. Entrañas has also contributed mixes to platforms such as NAAFI's NTS show, JEROME and Discos Paraiso. 

Speaking about his contribution to 909's mix series, Entrañas says, "darkness, syncopations, polyrhythms and rich textures mark this mix in which I show my fascination for broken rhythms and heavy bass."

Welcome back to another Transmission broadcasting from the HER 他 Transmission Mix Series, our mix series showcasing amazing artists from around the world. For the 126th edition, we bring you a mix from Taiwan based DJ, rr. 

RR started their musical and DJ journey in the experimental underground of Taiwan, as infamous venue, Final Taipei. With a focus on seeking out diverse sounds and expanding them across vast soundscapes, rr makes audio waves via layering rhythms, keeping this wave fresh by adding new ones alongside flexible basslines. Within the emotion of audio, she likes to disrupt the listeners expectation with off-beat music and irregular syncopations.

"Xereca means cunt in Portuguese. Here’s what I used to make this:

4 tbsp. of Baile
8 oz. of Jersey Club
2 tbsp. of vaginal lubrication
1/3 cups of cheesy pop
5 strawberries
10 gal. of anxiety
4 tbsp. of Ghetto tech
Salt and pepper to taste

Folly Ghost is a Brazilian DJ, producer based in Berlin. His tracks are a collection of seductive rhythms with a fierce bass that set the mood for a celebration of bodies. He enjoys exploring a wide variety of peripheral sounds such as Jersey Club, Ghetto House, Ballroom Music among other diasporic beats. Influenced by his upbringing in Rio de Janeiro, mixtures of Baile Funk are often featured in his sets, however Folly Ghost's commitment is not to genres, but to creating a space for lust and delight.

In this "Radio Impuls" show, DJs and producers @juanavaleria(who also spins under the name @presea) and @sepbtt are guests. The two played the closing set at our Rempart Rave with Nick Léon in February. They are both originally from Colombia, but now live in Freiburg and Karlsruhe and organise, among other things, the party series “La ruta del jaguar” and “neon jngl club”, with which they showcase mostly club music or artists from Latin America and other regions of the global south. In the show, we talk about their ideas behind it and about some tracks by Latin American artists. In the second hour, they play a b2b set.

"Radio Impuls" is fundamentally about electronic music. The focus is on curiosity about the sound, history and developments of more experimental genres that evolve on the borders of club music. The spotlight is on the questions of how different subgenres influence each other, how this relates to the subcultural scene, certain artists, labels and places. On the sound level, the programme is a continuation of what the Impuls Crew in Freiburg aims to do by DJing and organising parties, among other things: To create curiosity in order to remain curious about different, new left-field sounds within electronic club music.

Always on the 3rd Sunday of the month at 22 h. The next show is on May 21st.
