End Of A Salesman

Reflecting light and stillness, and the process of creativity - and the ways that this creativity can play a therapeutic in all of our wellbeing. Some Revolutions are ongoing, peaceful, and very quiet.

Written as a creative response to the Wellbeing Works Photography Exhibition as part of the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival 2023 at the V&A Museum of Design in Dundee, Scotland.

Quiet Revolution

An instrumental lament for String Orchestra. Gentle flowing phrases becoming more intense towards a high climax followed by a few soft cadences disappearing into nothingness

Over a gentle chorale-like brass and lower strings accompaniment, 2 prominent solo Violins grind away with double-stopped rhythmic patterns building anticipation and a sense of mechanical rhythm which leads to a change of (gear) key providing more optimism yet with the underlying sinister ostinato provided by the vistual 'violinists'

(A version for 2 live violins and pre-recorded track would be for live performance- intended as a stand alone dance piece or part of a 5 movement 'suite')
