Rémi Kaval is a DJ, producer and promoter from Toulouse, France. He’s known both for his dj skills as for his mad skills on the MPC2000XL, that’s why he’s also known as the ‘King of Drums’. With this EP he invites us along a sonic journey starting in the heart of the jungle and ending inside an Egyptian sarcophagus. This percussion driven Ep will spice up any Dancefloor. For fans of Hard drum, UK Funky and Gqom.
 
Terra Hostilla is an intro track that drops us, as the title aptly suggests in the middle of a hostile territory. Fat percussion and some GQOM elements summon a lost-in-the jungle feeling. The phone sound is a constant reminder to call for help.
 
Next up is Oasis Trip, a refreshing and thirst quenching pause with UK funky flavours. Still very groovy and percussive with some aerial melodies. We’re leaving the jungle towards the desert. This track has a more housey feel with some Detroit-esque synths.
 
Radjaïdjah is the name of the poison in Tin tin’s ‘The Blue Lotus’ and is a reference to the maddening flute in this track, which has a similar effect. With this one we’re moving more into Hard drum territory. The rhythm is syncopated and relentless. Warning: this is an addictive and maddening track!
 
To end our trip, Mummy Powder brings us to the inside of an Egyptian Sarcophagus. This burst of sacred and haunting percussion with a Middle Eastern touch is both a spiritual and physical workout.

After a well received first EP on Lowup records, Nüfrika (Pekodjinn & Rolv.K) are back with a remix EP.
First up is Kensaye, a London based producer, DJ & radio host. Here at Lowup we’ve been quite a fan of his production work lately. He takes on ‘Tsévié’ giving it a slightly rougher feel and adding some percussion as well. Great track to start the party.
Next up is DJ Danifox with ‘Premier Sentier’. He turns the original intro track into a 6 minute workout fusing elements of deep house and what we came to know as the Lisbon sound. A highly addictive, deep and trance inducing workout, adding some lush vocals as well. Danifox is part of the Tia Maria Produções (Principe discos).
For the next remix we remain in Portugal, Pedro takes on ‘Onisan’. This Enchufada collaborator with a freshly released album, stays close to the original while adding his personal touch. The result is a smooth afro baile dance track, just as we like ‘em.
Lowups own Max Le Daron remixes ‘Fayudan’. Adding some bass and thus giving it a more Uk flavour. Also be on the lookout for his album, due soon on Akwaaba.

NÜFRIKA is the new project by @Rolv-K & @Pekodjinn, we’re proud & happy to present their first release the SAHEL EP.

Born out of weekly meetings between two friends: Rolv.K & Pekodjinn. The SAHEL EP is all about creating connections. A connection between them, a connection between the past, through traditional sounds and a more contemporary club aesthetic and finally a geographical connection between Rolv.K’s country of origin Sierra Leone (West Africa) and Tunisia (North Africa), where Pekodjinn’s roots lay, hence the name SAHEL EP.
Their debut EP started of as an organic and quite rough sounding jam. Voices and percussions were recorded on the go and the aim was to keep a natural feel. The result however is a smooth urban sound that sits well with the worldwide global club sound.

She definitely pulled the UK Garage card on this one. Some sparse vocal elements hint at dancehall and there’s an overall floaty bouncy feel to it.

For this remix, Brussels based La Dame strips down the sound and adds percussive elements. There’s an overall dubby atmosphere to this production and an intelligent use of space giving the track an airy feeling while maintaining a deep club efficiency, flirting with Gqom vibes.

Max le Daron - Naagtaba (La Dame Remix)

Last month's juke and zouk bass inspired Harissa EP by Jabo is followed up by this collection of remixes that sit around the 130 mark. First up there is Melbourne boss Lewis CanCut channeling the golden age of UK funky on his version of Harissa. Then Swiss-Rwandan producer Bauchamp reworks Pastilla into a percussive roller that should appeal to club and ballroom heads, afro beats afficionados and the funky massive alike. The label's own DJ Mellow is closing the proceedings with another take on the same track, opting for booming bass music infused with heavily syncopated caribbean swing.

Superhero by day, producer/dj by night Gan Gah hits us hard again with his second EP for Lowup records. With a relentless energy he presents a set of original material of Moroccan sonorities perfectly framed within an actual club context. His aim is simple achieve trance & frenzy on the global dancefloors, he won’t rest until the universe is conquered.

After a first successful release Souktronics on Lowup, he now presents his second EP Chaabitronics. Ahwach Riddim, Ahwach refers to the music of the berber villages in the Atlas mountains and integrates folkloric elements of berber music into a smooth running UK bass riddim, perfectly setting the tone for the rest of the EP. Taktoka, is a tribute to the leader of the fans of Agadir’s soccer team HUSA, blending chaâbi elements with a ternary rhythm achieving a trance like state topped off by a haunting melody. Daâwa, literally meaning mess and things do get messy & wild. With elements of the Northern regions of Morocco - think - a Raggada rhythm with loads of Darbouka and a wobbly bassline pushing the listener further into an ascending trance. Kind of like a meeting between the Chemical Brothers & Omar Souleyman getting out of control. Last up is Bsahtek, the most adventurous track of the four, achieving a perfect balance between a diverse set of modern club aesthetics and more traditional elements, often used during the celebration of marriages, it leaves you in a state of perfect bliss & harmony.

Things are gearing up at Lowup Records. We’re more than thrilled to present a joint release of Max Le Daron’s Monin’Guetin together with Akwaaba. Max has been working intensely this last couple of years on a series of Afro inspired tunes, collaborating with various vocalists. Monin’Guetin is a serious Afro banger featuring Joey Le Soldat, Burkina rapper on the rise & Gan Gah. 
The original will be out in a few on Akwaaba music alongside other gems. We at Lowup, will present the accompanying remix EP featuring remixes by Gafacci, KKingKong, Siete Catorce & Lorenzo BITW.

First up is Ghanaian producer Gafacci (the guy behind Jowaa) with a darker, threatening groove, also adding some percussive elements resulting in a fusion of Club aesthetics with a genuine afro feel. A Juju ceremony for the dancefloor. Next is portuguese producer on the rise Kking Kong (Enchufada). This guy is on fire, check his latest 20 or so productions. Here he delivers the goods once again. Warning: certified banger with a bewitching flute sound that will nest itself inside your head for days.
Siete Catorce a producer hailing from mexico deconstructs and reassembles this global club music twisting it into a far out hypnotizing Affair, one for the headz! Lorenzo Bitw has steadily pushed his way into the focus of many over the last two years. This one definitely has a more techno/trancey feel and a great build up resulting in a liberating climax!

Rolv K & Pekodjinn (NÜFRIKA) - Premier Sentier (DJ Danifox Remix)

Lowup and HAPE Collective are proud to present this double A-sided EP, an Afro European collaboration between Tchad based MC FTP and Italian producer, DJ and musician Go Dugong. Both up-tempo rollers combine the conscious urban swag and ‘francam’ (French Cameroonian) lingo of young Cameroon born and Ndjamena-based MC FTP with Go Dugong’s production mixing traditional African balafon and drumming with thumping Afro-trap beats.

Lowup and HAPE Collective are proud to present this double A-sided EP, an Afro European collaboration between Tchad based MC FTP and Italian producer, DJ and musician Go Dugong. Both up-tempo rollers combine the conscious urban swag and ‘francam’ (French Cameroonian) lingo of young Cameroon born and Ndjamena-based MC FTP with Go Dugong’s production mixing traditional African balafon and drumming with thumping Afro-trap beats.
