This mix is a journey across some of my favorite types of techno, starting from hypnotic, haunted tracks, and gradually building up and going into full throttle 140 bpm bangers at the end.  I crafted this with savage, big room warehouse vibes in mind for people missing the intensity of a late night dancefloor. This was actually a cathartic release of pent up energy after not being able to properly play out for a year.

Loxxe is an emerging Toronto-based DJ and producer who brings bold and dynamic sets to any party she plays. Her sound is techno at the core, but also has versatile layers of deep house, melodic progressive, nu-disco, trance and minimal. She’s performed at some of the biggest events and festivals across Toronto, such as Harvest Festival, Everybody, Promise Cherry Beach and the Sunday Afternoon Social.

A former bass guitarist and classical pianist, Loxxe took up DJing after living in Osaka, Japan, inspired by the city’s energy and intensity. She frequently draws inspiration from 8-bit retro gaming culture in her selections and productions. Currently she hosts a monthly online radio show on n10.as as turbo_ether called Extra Life featuring mainly downtempo and ambient, nostalgic music. Loxxe also works as a freelance illustrator, and you can check out her artwork at lauralikesart.com

XLR8R twisted summer mix

Loxxe is an emerging Toronto-based DJ and producer who brings bold and dynamic sets to any party she plays. Her sound is techno at the core, but also has versatile layers of deep house, melodic progressive, nu-disco, trance and minimal. She’s performed at some of the biggest events and festivals across Toronto, such as Harvest Festival, Everybody, Promise Cherry Beach and the Sunday Afternoon Social. Though fairly new to production, her track ‘Limit Break’ caught the attention of XLR8R, and was featured in their March music submission roundup feature. She has also supported international artists such as  upported- Kevin Saunderson, Dusky, Justin Cudmore, Honey Soundsystem, Cooper Saver, The Librarian, Osunlade, Mia Wallace, Hiroko Yamamura, Kenny Glasgow, and Antwon Faulkner

Electro Boogie (episode 26: best of 2022)

The dance scene in Istanbul might not be one of the most talked about in the world, but whenever it is mentioned it’s impossible not to talk about Zozo. She is a left of centre DJ who was previously in charge of the musical direction of Hush, a gallery and bar on the Anatolian side of Istanbul, and nowadays she plays cult clubs like De School and Salon des Amateurs. She has also put out key cassettes like ‘Witchez of Anatolia’ on Sameheads, as well as being part of the famous curveball label Macadam Mambo. Reaching for curious sounds from her homeland as well as new wave, disco, synth pop, house and acid, a Zozo set of "oriental crime" is as magical as it is mysterious.

And her mix for us is no different. In her own words, "frogs, communication, Russians, aliens, nature, wizards, friends, psychedelia, technology, joy, fear, love, human beings, publicity, toxic world and internet" are all sources of inspiration here and it shows. Her 75 minute set is wholly intoxicating, with synthetic sounds and real world samples, languid grooves and drunken rhythm all slowly unfolding and pulling you into their midst before tripping you out. It's weird and wonderful, and sounds like little else out there right now.
