The electrical impedance of a plant is measured and sent to a MIDI synthesizer. The melody and rhythm are entirely created by the plant. The synthesizer creates the sound output, which is of course mediated by a human, at least for the moment.

What causes electrical impedance? 

The resistance is caused by the collisions of the electrons with the atoms inside the resistors. The impedance in a capacitor is caused by the creation of an electric field. The impedance in an inductor is caused by the creation of a magnetic field.
