Over the last decade @localtalk has become one of the most influential house labels on the scene. With an enviable discography they have consistently kept to their core message of releasing only inspirational and magical house music whilst keeping their visual message crystal clear and concise. It's a label which is very much all about the music.

With an army of followers all around the globe today Local Talk is tracking back to track which started it all for them Bassfort's Moon Shadow which they are revisiting as part of their 10th Anniversary celebrations.

After months of deliberation as to who could do this musical treasure justice Local Talk enlisted the help of old friend Joe Claussell who has delivered an utterly sumptuous and spellbinding slice of house music. At 11+ minutes long, it still feels like it's over in the blink of an eye, it's that good. This is a track with transcends musical boundaries, a moment of complete musical perfection.

The EP also features a remix by Kyodai (who were 2/3 of Bassfort) and it's equally brilliant.

Il n'est pas de notoriété publique que sous le torrent de musique labélisée "French Touch" qui se déversera en France et sur le reste du monde dès 1990 et pour la décennie à venir, prospérait une communauté de mélomanes férus, entre autre, des sonorités deep-house américaines.

Straight-up Recordings fait partie de ces labels de l'époque qui ont émulé le temps de leur existence cette scène House française, promulguant les compositions d'artistes comme Playin' 4 The City, Dj Deep ou Franck Roger.

Avec ce focus, je souhaitais donner un léger coup de projecteur sur ce label, à mon sens peu connu mais pourtant emblématique du genre, dont les nombreuses sorties peuplent toujours les sacs et les étagères des House-heads aguerris.

One of the standout tracks from Joey Negro’s Produced With Love album and a firm favourite of Gilles Peterson, "Distorting Space Time" gets the full remix treatment.

Kicking it off is Chicago legend Ron Trent, who provides his own take on the original funked out, Arthur Russell flavour, moving it into deeper, more housed up territory.

Fouk bring their hazy, jazz tinged style building the remix around those warm Rhodes chords, shuffling rhythm and low pulsating bassline. 

Joey Negro adds his own new Space Funk remix featuring Kaidi Tatham on keys which is a deep, jazzy broken beat groove with extra vocoder solo from Sunburst regular Tony Remy.

With his stripped-down emotional love for music and kind soul, Leipzig-bound beatsmith and all round top geezer Luvless has been steadily cementing his reputation as one of contemporary house music’s finest.

Luvless is known for his work with Rose Records – a label he started with four other friends back in 2011 – and a smattering of appearances on several other labels. slamming down dusty disco edits as well as athomspheric house belters. Since 2017 he’s been focussing on his new project Velours Records. a vinyl outlet for different avenues of the Luvless sound and guest appearances by friends.

His music has been described as sweet, gentle even, but banging at the same time. It sometimes pays homage to the old Kerry days with extra magic dust sprinkled on top.

Glenn Davis returns to F*CLR for his 3rd EP on the label and all I can say is that this EP is an absolute killer. It’s been almost impossible to keep the lid on this house track of epic proportions for the last 12 months. Simple, effective and deadly, Ashley Beedle dropped the original on dubplate at one of the now legendary ‘Heavy Disco’ parties at the beginning of 2020 and the crowd lost their minds. Shazam went into meltdown and nobody could find the answer!

Glenn’s original harks back to the halcyon days of classic New York house - think Masters at Work, think Kerri Chandler, think Tony Humphries, think ‘category is taking it to church’. This is what ballroom beats are all about – attitude, realness and taking no prisoners. It really is a thing of beauty and has already gone into the realms of ‘classic’ with all the heads who have had the dubplate. It is the distillation of everything good about true house music – it remains faithful to the early pioneers’ vision of what they hoped house music would become.

Once again, the ‘North Street’ crew, Ashley Beedle, Darren Morris and Jo Wallace, flip the script on their ‘North Street West’ remix of ‘Special’ and inject a late 80’s toughness into the groove while bringing it bang up to date with chopped beats, nasty piano and a jacking tempo that ‘werks’ Glenn’s original track.
