Frenzied Nairobi fire for you here, courtesy of a team-up between 14-legged troupe Sarabi, and Auntie Flo collaborator / all-round good guy Esa. The track's development is engrossing, forged in the crucible of a collective dedicated to the advancement of East African cultural interests, through live festival jams and lightning-quick studio sessions. It's too long and detailed to tell here – you'll have to cop the physical release for the full story splayed across the inlay.
This radio-ready version of "Koko's Vibration", mixed and produced by Esa and Ambrose Akula Akwabi (a the man known as the 'East African Mr Fingers', fact fans), adds a subtle gloss to the rough takes floating about the web, but loses not an iota of passion. That means spirited yelps, polyrhythmic drumming, hooks flying in from all angles, and those wicked Onyeabor-esque keyboard runs. It arrives soon as part of the Highlife Series; they've gone from Cuba to Kenya, and soon to Uganda. Like we said: real good music made with real good intentions by real good guys.

German Daniel Ansorge, aka Barnt, is a DJ and producer who, in his own way, sticks to the Bauhaus principle: he makes music that has nothing in it that isn’t totally necessary or functional. With this rough blueprint, he has conjured up some unsettling techno on his own Magazine label as well as Matias Aguayo’s Cómeme. Mule and Hinge Finger have also come calling for his works, and despite their minimalist approach, they are textured and hypnotic, strange and subversive. Last year he toured the US for the first time, and he's already a very welcome guest at Europe's forward thinking clubs. So after years of quiet toil, he is now getting the recognition he deserves around the world.  

The fascinating mix he serves up is suitably spooky and chilling to start, with ambient drones, soft drums and haunting pads all operating on a bleak horizontal plane. Later on some sleek metal grooves and post apocalyptic techno gets you on your toes before everything decays back to a dystopian nothingness. It makes for quite the trip and offers a snapshot of the sort of thing you can expect from the man when working in either the DJ booth or home studio.

Peanut Holmes is a duo consisting of Chris Holm and Eirik Blåsternes, hailing from the city of Bergen, Norway. They have previously been working with everything from the far east underground hip-hop scene in China to the vast cornfields of American indie-rock. They have been through it all, movie acting, playing national league beach soccer, skateboarding through the streets on their own signature pro-models. 

The past few years Chris has been busy with his own projects – Young Dreams and Bloody Beach – while touring the world with Sondre Lerche, Paperboys, Thea Hjelmeland, and Miss Tati. Eirik has been producing gems for the likes of Ralph Myerz, Son Of Light, Xiao Ou, The Youngfellaz), Sadat X, Lupe Fiasco, and Suga Free. 

They met touring as live musicians for Paperboys and Miss Tati. Now they are joining forces under the Peanut Holmes moniker ready to explore the electronic abyss of Scandinavia. 

Their debut EP, titled Hello, is the beginning of a journey through Peanut Holmes’s magical and wondrous universe. Mixing up instrumental hip hop and weird electronica grooves with a leftfield attitude this release will surely trigger endorphins. 

Steady raps, soulful melodies, vocal contributions in Icelandic, French, and even Swahili. As long as the world keeps buzzing in weird, whompy, and synthesized slopes anything can happen, right?
