#StandUp was the first track taken from my 2005 mixtape 'Ten Grand For Broke' search on youtube and you will find the music video we shot for it.  The track was featured on DJ Kingstun's 'Best of 2005' Show on FM radio in the UK.

The last line of the song refers to Jean Charles de Menezes (RiP) and the significant police errors that lead to his tragic murder, by the police at Stockwell tube station in London on 22/07/2005. Anti-War / Protest / Anti-Blair, Anti-Bush song I recorded out of pure anger and dispair at the illegal wars in Afghanistan and Iraq following the 9/11 attacks and Bush/Blair's sickening, charade crusade. Stop The War !!!  The beat was a deliberate choice... based on the title of the track, the title of the LP and the image 50 Cent was selling.. He represented the other side of the coin. The happy, ignorant face of capitalism at such a critical time for life as we know it, frankly, sickens me and was, it seemed to me, a metaphor for the entire post 9/11 capitalist world ... Chess, was produced on a rainy week day evening by Fourth Element and myself in the winter of early 2006. The concept for the lyrics is basically "techno-fear", something that still troubles me today. I am fascinated and terrified in equal measures by twenty-first century technological advances and 'Chess' serves as a public warning - so you can't say you wern't warned, when we inevitably become slaves to our own technology (some may say thats already happening). As you will hear, my outlook on this matter, is bleak and since 2006 when the lyrics were written, many other events have taken place to make 'Chess' more relevant than ever !!
