Long John is hillbilly noir, influenced by a field holler, Dashiell Hammett, Johnny Rotten, and Black Snake Moan; it features 2bad Jim on a cigar box guitar sounding like a wasp in a tin, Slim Williams on railway line and sledgehammer, and a slinky syncopated bassline from 'Filthy' Rich Paling. Engineered and mixed by Jez Burns at Yellowbean Studios, Leicester in early 2014.

Back in the early sixties, I spent one disastrous summer collecting fossils in Kansas and Missouri. Most nights I slept in my car, but one night I treated myself to a cheap room in the Cozart Hotel in Clinton, Missouri. This song is how I felt.
