Merry Mixmas 2013

Here's what everybody (well at least me) has been waiting for: this year's mixup. Sorry it came a bit late, but you know, life happens... As tradition dictates, this was supposed to be started after thanksgiving and then fully crafted BEFORE the holidays. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. I started this on December 19th and finished on January 1st (I digress). Nonetheless, this shouldn't disappoint. This 23 minute mix features over 50 artists in a mashup of Christmas-y delight, further proving my ADHD (though that could be due to Kendrick Lamar's contribution). XMAAASSSS

A summer mixtape/mashup to celebrate the solstice and the universal connection we all possess to the universe. In this installment, I decided to ask friends to pick all of the music for me. "Challenge accepted". All in all, around 50 songs made it into this almost hour long mix that just seemed to come together. Such is life lately, as when you relinquish conscious control to the power of self-trust and thus, rely on automatic senses and reflexes, the best things always come together via the powers of the cosmos. This mix represents an example of that collective mind/state of being/consciousness/creativity (I, you, we, us).

when i was younger and broker, i used to create a 'christmix' each year as a present for family, friends and bar randoms. what started as well mixed full songs quickly de-evolved into a flurry of snippets from many artists. within them, i try to combine songs from all over the place all mashed together in a stew of muzak. this year is no different... here's a slight sample of the artists included:

since this is the christ-mix, i always toss a little xmas in at the end. this year is no different. i've saved one of my fav tributes for the end. one other point to note is that i do NOT have ADD. certainly, many folks would disagree but i was actually tested twice (2x). this mix is highly ADD so if you aren't liking what you are hearing, i ask you wait 30 seconds as it will undoubtedly change. there are 50 songs in 31 minutes... only one full song is played.

when i was 14 or 15, i got this crazy idea that i wanted to be a dj. i wanted to bring sounds together as a conversation. i bought a dj jazzy jeff mixer and some gemini turntables. i stole my parents records and cut em up. i haven't stopped since. BTW - I am leaving this pic up because I no longer have hair... and damn I looked good.
