Three English Images is a song cycle telling the story of falling in love, being in love, and losing that love.

The first movement: I look to your eyes, is the plea of one to another to understand the feelings they have.

I look to your eyes,
Holding me fetter
Asking
Could I have the pleasure…
Oh to hold you
In a pleasant embrace
To calm
My heart’s quick pace.

The second movement: Meadow In The Morning, is the trivial tale of a bird’s daily struggle to find breakfast, and subsequently a worms effort to elude being such. It shows complacency in the relationship previously established, which leads to the events of the third movement.

The sun in the sky shines on the little bird,
That marches on and on,
For the worm that he seeks eludes the grasp 
of the hungry little bird.

The shade of the mountain cools the grass
That the bird treads lightly on.
The worm in his scuffle gave notice to the bird
Who ate the worm… whole.

Lastly the third movement, I watch my love shows that the relationship has not remanded intact. One longs for the other reminiscing over the coast that they might have previously witnessed the efforts of the bird and the worm.

I watch my love stand in the sea.
Her hair is red,
Her eyes are blue,
Like the early morning due.

The wind brings her smile to me,
But only as memory.

I give my breath to her
Like an almost kiss.
And the Earth will carry me to the sea
Where we’ll live most peacefully.

And we’ll live most peacefully.

Tales Of Regretful Retrospection

Logan Severson Willson is a bass, conductor, and composer from Tucson Arizona currently studying choral music at Northern Arizona University. He has received many accolades for his excellence performing with all of Arizona’s major Symphonies, at local and regional ACDA conferences, and as a conductor, soloist and choir member in several world premières.
Logan performs with many award-winning ensembles including The Sedona Academy of Chamber Singers, High Altitude Vocal Jazz, and Shrine of The Ages, where he serves as section leader.
As a composer, Logan is published through his own website and is prominent in the Arizona music scene. Logan is featured in the Collegiate Choral Composition Community, and has premièred works alongside distinguished composers such as Jake Heggie, Hans Bridger Heruth, and Anthony Bernarducci.
Currently, Logan enjoys his time as Chorus Master for Northern Arizona University Opera, as a choral intern at the Church of the Red Rocks, as student conductor of the Herald M. Harter Memorial Handbell Choir and Vox Montes tenor bass ensemble, as the conductor of the Kitt School of music composition studio, as music director of Phi Mu Alpha Province XXV and Kappa Xi, and as music director for the Northern Arizona University ACDA student chapter.
Outside of music you can find him racing bicycles as a hobby.
