Oakland-based selector Clearcast is one to watch. Leaning heavily into internet electronica and tenebrous UK Bass, the artist’s sets often lie at the intersection between breakbeat bangers and introspective euphoria, with dreamy soundscapes and bright melodies pulled from left-field and experimental dance music.

"Assembling this 100% production supplement was one of the greatest challenges and opportunities for growth I’ve experienced so far as both a DJ and producer. Working with this constraint provided a much smaller pool of music to choose from, and I enjoyed every moment of diving into old project files, breaking these tunes down to their building blocks, and gluing them back together for this mix of nearly 80% unreleased material. Incredibly grateful to the Pure Sound team for making the space, and to all the collaborators who made these tunes possible."

"This supplement is a concrete sample of the Zero Idea sound and my mixing philosophy. Dense blends consisting of percussive rhythms and funky stabs, rolling synthlines, and hefty bass. The track selection is grounded in the techno/tribal/hardgroove/tech house traditions of the past, but connects these traditions with producers who have taken inspiration from these times and evolved the sound. Quick mixing and the use of three CDJs allows for explosive transitions and the goal is to keep listeners on their toes. Hope you enjoy :) Much love!"
