Todays premiere is the remix of Belgium collaboration Stavroz for the title track of Talal & Zoi's 'Misunderstood' EP on Moodfamily.
Hailing from Pakistan, Talal & Zoi is a collaboration between two cousins that's been making waves in their new hometown of Toronto and beyond. With their affinity for the deep and melodic they emerged on such labels as Traum, Dirtybird, Thoughtless Music and Rawthentic. This time they're releasing another slow burner on Moodfamily.

A crowd of dissenters claps, chants, cheers, and shouts into the open air.  Their chance choral creations are at once jubilant and angry, orderly and chaotic, rhythmic and random, melodious and cacophonous.  Touching on ethics, justice, democracy, and global citizenship, Rabble Rousers explores the notion of protest as a spontaneous installation of improvised 'music' in public space.

Happy Angels Revisited (2018) is my audio adaptation of the children’s book Very Happy Angel Visit (2016) by artists Hela Trol Pis (Max Trevor Thomas-Edmond) and Hulugold (Chris Peckham). Released through Hela’s publishing project 5everdankly, Very Happy Angel Visit combines Hela × Hulu’s experimental writing and drawing practices to produce magical milk-glass pictograms through the story of a shape-shifting angel and her friends. In this gentle reading-recording, Happy Angels Revisited considers the sonicity of body/-language through some of the book’s key themes on desire, religion, holograms, fuzziness, and friendships.

Happy Angels Revisited is about slow and self-reflexive discharge. Through oral storytelling that moves between modes of address, it is about identifying (without over-exerting), what happens in the body, and……………………… slowly, gently, leaking, expelling. I can't quite commit to a name regarding form, but maybe the closest is something between a bedtime/wake-up time story or a guided meditation; a type of relaxation therapy to facilitate the practice of breath and detachment from thought-induced congestion; easing the movement of worlds towards more renewable and sustainable flows of energy.
