I made this mix after my interview and conversation with Ralph Moore for Mixmag, and it's inspired by lots of the music and references we were discussing. I wanted to do a mix for Mixmag you wouldn’t usually get going through soul, funk, reggae, disco, R&B and house. All the songs are tunes I’ve been digging this past year during the pandemic. I had a lot of fun digging records for this mix and recorded it live in my studio The Other Ship in Ibiza.

Premiere: Pixel Grip - Reason to Stay (Matrixxman Remix)

Following the success of their acclaimed collaboration with Ajii, 'We're Gonna Be Alright', Catz 'n Dogz return with 'Take The Night', a second summer anthem in the making. 

A bright, feel-good crossover dance record, Take The Night channels the carefree spirit of early-2000s indie dance, an era that has long inspired the duo. 'We always find ourselves coming back to that music while travelling or on holidays,' they explain. 'There was something timeless about its energy, and we wanted to capture that feeling in a fresh way.'

Featuring infectious vocals from Drew Hall, the track began with a lyrical idea from Catz 'n Dogz's Voitek before evolving into a collaboration focused on creating something irresistibly catchy without slipping into cliché. The result is a euphoric, pop-leaning anthem that celebrates optimism, connection and making the most of every moment.

While the music pays homage to a familiar sound, the accompanying video deliberately takes the concept in a different direction. Created in partnership with Dancing Międzypokoleniowy, a pioneering Polish initiative that reimagines aging by bringing generations together through shared creative experiences, the visual shines a light on the importance of friendship, love and human connection at every stage of life.

At a time when many older people are experiencing greater loneliness and fewer opportunities for social connection, Take The Night becomes more than a dance record. Its a celebration of community, new friendships, and the joy that comes from simply sharing moments together, regardless of age or background.
