"Running down impossible meanders and bends, the slope of the Spree guides me on a suprasensory journey. The selector is standing on a terrace by the river bed. From the water I observe how he makes each choice; he carefully picks the best vinyl possible, like a harvester does as he plucks the sweetest grapes before putting them in the barrel. He blows the miniscule specks of pollen away, but the static electricity doesn’t make it an easy task. People go back and forth on the swings that hang from the majestic plane trees and dirty feet engage in tribal dancing. I've been talking to the water for 25 hours and I don't want the journey to end."

André Pahl (@andrepahl)(Berlin) is known for his Safari mixes—pitched down cinematic journeys through uncharted seas, forbidden deserts and distant galaxies. His sound tends to oscillate between psychedelic trips, spaced out electronics and voodoo percussion, exploring the slowed-down heartbeat of danceable music. Listening to André Pahl’s sets is like being compelled to push yourself inside a forest even though you know it'll be dangerous — head first, then the whole body, submerged deep into a strange jungle world, partly solid, partly made of shimmering liquids.

Evolution desires novelty not conformity and dogmas are the enemy of the soul. Originally from West Germany, Pascal’s approach to music is rooted in positive experimentation and the spontaneous play of different shades and moods. After discovering the mixed music format of deejaying as a teenager he quickly got immersed in the scene - at the time, untarnished by the post-internet buzz of today. A healthy diet of early Plastikman, Perlon and outings to Robert Johnson laid the ground for creative forces to drive his ears to ever more adventurous places. It was a pure and innocent time of discovery, defined by the organic flow of life, people and experiences. 



Blurred lines, shifting forms, subtle tones. Imbued in his style are some of the dreamlike qualities that originated from his left-field dance influences, and delivered here with a gentle touch. Pascal’s mix is naturally transportive, a reverie glowing with evening sunlight and quiet reflections. Soft drones extend deep into space, melodies leave their faded imprint on the reclining sky.

This mix is the first podcast of the serie GONG, dedicated to jam frequencies sessions between yono (luavabang.hz) and Lucie André (lucieandreyoga), certified yoga teacher, breathwork facilitator and sound player based in Berlin. 

The live set was recorded during the performance “Ambient Live Sound & Qi Gong”, hosted by Har Studio on Oct 26th: a 2H yogic and sonic experience blending the meditative movement practice of Qi Gong, restorative poses and an ambient jam to vinyls and gong sounds.
