The text was generated by a program using a Markov chain. The probability that a word would follow any two preceding words was calculated in advance by analyzing the source texts. If a suitable word cannot be found, one is chosen randomly from the list. A random starting prefix is then chosen and the program is allowed to run until it has generated a sufficient amount of text. 

The source texts used were the collected works of Ambrose Bierce taken from the Project Gutenberg collection.
