It is an absolute delight to announce @daigohanada's new LP Satori, which we'll release in March of next year. It's hard not to overstate how special Daigo is as a person and musician ; his care and thoughtfulness shine through every interaction and every note chosen on the piano, synth or organ. He's been writing material for Satori over the last couple years and the collection of 13 pieces is an intimate invitation into his world, infused with hopeful melodies and a soulful vulnerability. Originally composed for Thanassis Triaridis' play "Zyklon or the Destiny", this haunting score by Manos Milonakis returns with re-recorded parts, new mixing and mastering by Christos Megas, and stunning artwork by Tilman Z.

Inspired by themes of confinement, dark energy, and temporal suspension, Zyklon combines classical strings, evocative piano, music boxes, and cosmic electronic textures. Featuring Müriel Bostdorp (piano), Christina Georgeli (violin), Elisso Papastrati (violin), Thodoris Papadimitriou (cello), Björk Oskarsdottir (violin), and collaborations with Jacob David (piano) and Gregoire Blanc (theremin), the album bridges the past and present in a unique sonic narrative.

Berlin based, ‘piano poet’ Federico Albanese took inspiration from the brief transitional state between day and night, writing a collection of chamber-music miniatures that withdraw, explore, yet assert their laconic melodies all the more decisively. The emotions to which Albanese has given expression in his thirteen compositions have been articulated with well-considered gestures.   

Equally well-considered is the choice of instruments that Federico Albanese deploys on ‘The Blue Hour’. Piano and synthesizers are joined by a cello, magnified by over-dubbing and sound effects that culminate into a little chamber orchestra, which swells the acoustics while checking the dominance of a clear solo voice. Albanese esteems the Gesamtklang, the overall sound image, with its mixture of compositional precision and dreamlike fluidity. For this reason, the pieces are recorded from start to finish on analogue equipment, further enhancing the warmth of their sound. In ‘Céline’ we hear a discreet beat, scarcely perceptible, a gentle pulse that lends structure without jeopardizing the charm of ‘The Blue Hour’.

A world in between, where all things are uncertain, vague, floating into shade. We can follow or observe, unsure where this would lead - into darkness or light; into the shadow of memories and dreams. A reflection of our desires and hopes, ready to be seen or unseen. It can be a sudden glimpse, with ideas turning into shapes, not yet complete. You can see things, but are unsure what they are. It is an unrevealed choice. "Science philosopher Karl Popper put forth the idea that the world could be divided into two categories: clocks and clouds. Clocks are fixed, orderly systems that can be understood by reducing them to their simplest parts. Clouds are, however an 'epistemic mess...' that are 'highly irregular, disorderly, and more or less unpredictable.' This adage was used to illustrate the dilemma of both science (and, I think in daily life) to approach all things as though they were clocks. We want to give nature (and people) a blueprint. But this approach is destined to bring nothing but frustration. The cosmos, its phenomenon, and people are much more like clouds than clocks."

In a contemplative exploration on solitude, Sergio Díaz De Rojas has delved into a nostalgic state of mind after moving from Peru to Spain, leaving friends and family behind for a new chapter of his life. Various late nights by the piano led to the creation of a softly sorrowful tribute to one of his favourite composers, Fryderyk Chopin.

The project got its title from Sergio’s fascination of old postcards to be found while slowly strolling through a quiet flea market, lending a vivid visual for the wistful sense of (dis)connection apparent in the two pieces. Porcelain, beautifully fragile, has a solemn intensity in its movement, flowing with the grace and concentration of a dancer, easily evoking a sense of lonesome mindfulness. Pomegranate is equally graceful but harbouring a hint of sensuality; it beckons and moves away, slow-burning but relentlessly passionate.

Postcards is available digital and on limited edition 7-inch vinyl, featuring artwork by multidiciplinary designer Ryan Carl.

Italian composer and pianist Luca Longobardi represents the generation of classically trained musicians who incorporate the language of contemporary electronic music into their pieces, which are furthermore strongly connected to the multimedia arts. Born in 1976, Longobardi studied classical music in Italy and New York and went on to earn his doctorate in digital audio restoration in Rome in 2011. His works reveal a strong interaction between classical and contemporary music. The experience he has gained as a theatre musician has increased his interest in the relationship between sounds and spectacle; he has composed music for ballets and films and accompanied installations and experimental art productions (Atelier de Lumières - Paris, Carrières de Lumières - Baux-de-Provence, Kunstkraftwerk - Leipzig). At his multimedia performances and in his recordings, strongly experimental electronic music meets pure, ethereal and simple-seeming piano playing that nevertheless relays deep emotions.
