The Cakemaker Soundtrack - Live from my Studio (July 2018)

This is the original piano sketch I wrote before starting the full arrangement of Habibi. It is a live recording on my Scholze upright piano. I used in the middle part a Strymon Timeline Delay (you can actually hear the click-in and out of the pedal in the track) to sketch the idea of the synth I used later in the full orchestrated track. I thought it was cool to release it as b-side of the single.

I was inspired by the new piece that Icelandic composer Olafur Arnalds just released via sheet music so I wrote a track using the same key signature and tempo marking. This is the result, a soft/melancholy rhythmic lullaby born out of late night improvisation.

Italian composer and pianist Luca Longobardi represents the generation of classically trained musicians who incorporate the language of contemporary electronic music into their pieces, which are furthermore strongly connected to the multimedia arts. Born in 1976, Longobardi studied classical music in Italy and New York and went on to earn his doctorate in digital audio restoration in Rome in 2011. His works reveal a strong interaction between classical and contemporary music. The experience he has gained as a theatre musician has increased his interest in the relationship between sounds and spectacle; he has composed music for ballets and films and accompanied installations and experimental art productions (Atelier de Lumières - Paris, Carrières de Lumières - Baux-de-Provence, Kunstkraftwerk - Leipzig). At his multimedia performances and in his recordings, strongly experimental electronic music meets pure, ethereal and simple-seeming piano playing that nevertheless relays deep emotions.
