Unconfined continue their four-part label launch with the second, evolution-inspired compilation ‘Tendency Towards Complexity’
Upon its debut release in September, Unconfined affirmed itself as one of the most ambitious electronic music labels around right now. With an emphasis on authenticity, the label’s only agenda is to set a limitless creative trajectory for its artists. Hailing from Turin to Taiwan; from Dublin to Bosnia, producers releasing on the Glasgow-born label are handed complete control over their releases, resulting in a sonic output that is truly organic, genre-defying and driven only by sound.

Now, the label is gearing up to unleash the second in its monster launch series featuring eight tracks from a global cast of artists working on the cutting edge of electronic music production. Inspired by life’s perpetual motions, cycles and processes - from the sprouting of a plant to the progression of a piece of art - the upcoming Various Artists compilation, entitled ‘Tendency Towards Complexity’, is an exploration of evolution.
 
The opening track comes from Dublin’s Ôneyra. With previous releases on labels such as Sciatic, Sticky Ground and Ceili Collective, Ôneyra has been running her own club nights since 2016, solidifying her own brand of punishing, industrial sound. Entitled Burn It Down, the new track is seven minutes of dark, reality-bending techno. 
 
Track number two welcomes Bosnia’s Olēka to the label. Alter-ego of revered techno powerhouse Forest People, Olēka has already brought his inimitable sound to globally renowned labels like Power Vacuum, Genesa, and Newrhythmic. True to form, the dystopian synth-lord’s Unconfined debut, titled ‘Bruxism’, is a dancefloor pummelling track carried by powerful, broken beat drums that build pressure until the final three-minute drop. 
 
Track three, Pripyat, comes from Pisa’s Ectoplasm. Relentless and driving, the track is a testament to the young DJ and producer’s fierce talent. With previous releases on Sticky Ground, Ectoplasm’s sound has been championed by global heavyweights I Hate Models, Rebekah and Paula Temple. 
 
Track number four, Murked, comes from Leafeater. With a sound championed by the likes of Xhin, Mumdance and Jerome Hill, Murked immerses the dancefloor in the Irish DJ’s own psychedelic vision as menacing synths intersperse with dark, distorted vocals and thunderous drums. 
 
Hailing from a small town in Ireland, RAMKKA steps up to deliver the fifth track of Unconfined’s VA002. The Fall of Uur kicks things up a gear with a pounding techno weapon that would feel as at home in a sweaty basement as it would played out in the most cavernous of dancefloors. 
 
Dublin’s RAAB presents the sixth track, Tattooed Marsupial. The producer, who has shared stages with huge names like Dax J and Answer Code Request, this year launched his own imprint ‘RAAB TRAX’ with a mix series under the same moniker. Building over six minutes, Tattooed Marsupial is a sonic journey that only finds reprieve in the deliverance of each ethereal, synth-laden drop, before coming back even faster, harder and darker each time. 
 
The penultimate track is provided by Argentinian producer Paula Camani. With previous releases on labels like Dynamic Recs, Room and NotDolls Records, Kenopsia, showcases Paula’s ability to form a transportive bassline that is as intensely visceral as it is melodic.
 
The final track Vortex comes from London-based producer Charlie Sparks who boasts previous releases on labels like MOTZ, Insane Industry, Autektone and Naked Lunch. Influenced by old school techno, psytrance and European techno, Vortex concludes the compilation with six minutes of raw, unforgiving energy.
