This is an experiment using [sorta] the scientific method.

Background:
I was recently in an album of the day group chat, in which, you guessed it, we shared a different album every day. What immediately struck me was how many types of music are out there, for all sorts of interests, moods and styles. There were some I just didn't care for that others in the group couldn't stop raving about. 

Hypothesis: 
This experiment proposes to test whether what you actually like about music is different from everyone else, different from what marketers/pop culture tell you to like, and whether you can experience the same piece of music in different ways at the same time.

Key terms in this report:
MDOF = Multiple Degrees of Freedom
MIMO = Multiple-Input Multiple-Output
Calibration = what scientists and engineers do to make sure their stuff is working correctly. 

In vibrations testing engineers may use a MIMO shaker table to test the way things move in MDOF when excited by external oscillations. But to get good data, they first have to make sure the instruments are all working.

Test Method:
Your music listening brain is the MIMO MDOF instrument to be calibrated. How many things can you keep track of? There is a lot happening. Intentionally disorienting, probably. In the middle of the chaos there are some sounds you may find centering, if not annoyingly predictable among the chaos. The song does not always follow standard rules of music, the beat even gets turned around in some points. 

Test Results:
Participants thus far have presented mixed reviews. The words "Interesting" and "this particular voice is unsettling" have come up. So far, I am the only one who loves it. But I guess I have a bias. 

Conclusions:
There appears to be a standard expectation for the way people want to experience music. But that actual standard is different for different people. Being asked to challenge the expectation is not an intriguing prospect for everyone, no matter how groovy the primary beat.

Points for Future Research:
Was this intentional? Did I just not go through and fine tune the parts to make it more conventional? Am I just being lazy, hiding behind a facade of hipster nerd? Am I actually driving at something or just making stuff because it's fun and art doesn't have to be a product with a "perfect" finished condition?
