there's a lot to say about all the music on this album. i've wrote paragraphs about it before.  it's amazing how really close friendz can get together and explore everything they've been feeling and want to tell each other through music. it's really an intense experience. it can feel like captains on a ship, about to embark on a journey they don't know where will take them to. but they explore. and push forward. we know what is familiar. but it all becomes foreign and exciting and new. improvisation has an effect on the brain. our intention is to add to the sounds, and create forward push of time and energy. and harmony and rhythm is what binds us. our ears are the compass for our souls. it's very much a fun and exhilirating experience.  we are often searching. there are moments where our concentrated focus fades. we take a while to get to the point. getting to the point is the point. then there are these moment of total psychic unison. those are my very favorite parts, when the song, the one that hasn't even been composed yet, starts to lead the players on its own direction. as the bass player, i need to keep pushing the agenda. i need to establish the rhythmic and melodic themes. but i don't like being the leader. i like to sit back and let my companions take the helm.  there would be no ship to sail without the water and wind, you know? i like positioning myself at the center. then, i like to disappear, and watch how my surroundings will fill the space that i've created by exiting. i like to metamorph the feel and sound and volume and distance. i cannot play the same thing twice. it should be recognizable as the same thing. but it's never the same. always changing. in terms of the art. these are unfinished sketches that you want to frame and stare at, for hours. they are both final pieces and preliminary skethces. it is an infinite game that begs to be played. and recorded. and this really caught a moment in time that meant a lot of good friends coming together, for the right reasons, to be creative, to have fun, to play music together.
