I recently reverse-engineered the 1996 game SimTunes just for fun, and then decided to make a rendition of "Bad Apple!!" entirely within it as an extra challenge. Watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iXXYwafu3EU

However, the right tempo of 138 BPM is not possible within SimTunes, and the Virtual Machine emulations are very choppy and inconsistent, so the audio kind of sucks.

So I decided to write a script that reconstructs the audio directly, by simulating the motion of the Bugz, thus getting a clean "perfect" audio output.

SimTunes audio is entirely at 11025 Hz, so quality isn't amazing, but this is the best case scenario possible. :)

The custom code also allows me to set any tempo I want, so I made it 138 BPM as the original song.

In an effort to teach myself LSDJ, I made a version of 'Caro Ortolano', a piece from the 1500s by Italian composer Giorgio Mainerio.

For whatever perverse reason, the idea of using a 2020s hardware recreation of 1990s technology to perform a piece of music from the 1500s was extremely appealing to me... go figure!

A homage to one of my favourite gaming series of all time. Matt Uelman's 12-string guitar theme as you entered Tristram for the first time perfectly set the scene in Diablo 1, and later iterations saw the music become even creepier and epic! I'm not sure if I've been able to capture the majesty of the originals, but I sure enjoyed making it.
